Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. Follow these handy tips that will help get your Leedey vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a comfortable experience if you take the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a good read. Secondly, find a spot in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, any medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between airlines, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes knives, scissors, spray paint and flares. Sports equipment like ice skates, and objects that could harm passengers, such as firearms and ammunition, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfy clothing and opt for shoes that are enclosed, flat and easy to take on and off.
- Most travelers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression tights or socks and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
