Depending on where you're coming from, your flight to Portsmouth could be no sweat at all or it could drag on forever. We've put together some handy hints that will help you start your next great adventure on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a great experience if you've got all the right things. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a fresh set of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any daily medications and perhaps a comfy neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to take your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have a Swiss Army knife hiding in one of the zippers of your carry-on luggage. Other prohibited items include flammable or explosive substances, such as fuel and fireworks, and liquids and gels in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your highest priority when choosing what to wear on your flight. Consider your footwear with care too, as swollen ankles and feet are a common side effect of flying. Shoes which are flat and slightly roomy are your best bet.
- Most of us have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. There's lots you can do to mitigate your risk. Wear a good-quality pair of compression socks or tights, stay well hydrated and get your legs and feet moving. Wander up and down the aisles of the cabin or try out some exercises in your seat.
