Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well. Take a peek at these handy tips that will get your Shields escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a pleasure if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare change of clothes and a few magazines. Next, find room in your bag for your electronic devices, chargers, your important medications and maybe a proper neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your pocket knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and strong acids, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your number one priority is to be as comfortable as possible. Layer up with loose, natural-fiber clothing and remember to bring a jacket just in case you get chilly. Opt for a pair of well-fitting, flat shoes as your feet may swell a little during the journey. Leave the stilettos and hiking boots in your checked luggage.
- Most of us have heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by reduced mobility or inactivity. There are plenty of ways to mitigate your risk. Wear a pair of compression socks or tights, drink lots of water and move your legs and feet. Do a few laps of the cabin or perform exercises in your seat.
