Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well organized. We've made a list of handy hints that will help get your Thebes escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a pleasure if you carry the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh set of clothes and a good novel. Next, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your laptop, a charger, your important medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have a Swiss Army knife hiding in one of the zippers of your carry-on luggage. Other banned items include flammable or explosive substances, such as bleach and fuel, and gels and liquids in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The key to a comfortable flight can be as simple as your choice of clothing. Prepare for temperature changes by layering up. That way you'll stay nice and warm if the cabin gets too cold. Shoes like sandals and heels are best left in your suitcase. Even though they may be your favorites, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like slip-ons. Your feet will thank you for it.
- It's likely you've heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of inactivity. There's lots you can do to lessen your risk. Wear compression socks or tights, drink lots of water often and keep your legs and feet moving. Walk around the cabin when possible or try out some simple stretches in your seat.
