- Traveling on a plane can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh set of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, make room in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, your medications and perhaps a neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have sharp objects (like a pocket knife) lurking in the bottom of your carry-on luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable substances, such as fuel and matches, and gels and liquids in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to feel as comfortable as you can. Go for a pair of flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, natural fibers and don't forget to bring a jacket in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- Most travelers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To minimize your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression tights or socks and keep your feet and legs moving.
