Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've planned ahead. We've made a list of handy tips that will get your Wehl vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a pain-free travel experience is to pack in advance. So, let's start with the essentials: passport, official ID, cash and medications. Next, bring items that'll help keep you occupied, like some electronic gadgets or a good book. It's also wise to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of earphones. Last but not least, be sure to chuck in toiletries like a toothbrush, lip balm and a clean set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) lurking in the bottom of your hand luggage. Other banned items include flammable or explosive products, like aerosols and matches, and liquids and gels in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The goal here is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Layer yourself up in natural-fiber clothing and bring a jacket just in case you get chilly. Always go with flat, slightly roomy shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the journey. Leave the high heels and heavy hiking boots in your checked luggage.
- Most travelers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of inactivity. There's plenty you can do to lessen your risk. Wear a quality pair of compression socks, drink lots of water and keep your legs and feet moving. Do a lap or two of the cabin or perform exercises in your seat.
