If you're not prepared, air travel can be daunting. But there's no need to hit the panic button just yet. Follow these tips and tricks for a stress-free start to your getaway in Xinmin. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a great experience if you've got all the right things. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletries, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a spare set of clothes and a good read. Next, leave space in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, your medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) hiding in your hand luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable substances, like aerosols and matches, and gels and liquids in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The key to a comfortable flight is often as simple as your choice of clothing. Prepare for temperature changes by bringing layers. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin begins to cool down. Shoes like flip flops and heels are best left in your suitcase. Even though they may be your favorites, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like sneakers. Your feet will thank you for it.
- A serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this developing. Wearing a good pair of compression socks may also help.
