Cheltenham, England hotel rooms at the Cotswold Inns & Hotels

"Not sure where to start, I know 131s well as go there a lot with friends. Took my wife to Cheltenham to meet some friends and thought we'd book a plush room and treat her. Bathroom was lovely with a double shower, room didn't feel like the superior room at all, not much room there. I wondered why the ear plugs were by the side of the bed, I thought it was for consideration.... My wife went to the bathroom and couldn't get out without me pushing the door (room 26). There were stains on the sheets. We got back in at about 2am and tried to sleep, I couldn't work out which of the 4 air conditioning units could turn the room down from 25 degrees. Eventually I turned them off and opened the windows, we were woken up every 15 minutes by a noise that sounded like a coffee machine (that didn't work, other than a dribble btw). The noise was the wine fridge which had been left open (not by us!). When we closed it, after waking up about 5 times, we were still woken up by it recalibrating, eventually I turned it off at the plug. When we finally got to sleep the seagulls woke us up through the open window (see a/c comment), and then the recycling of loads of glasses woke us up again. When I complained, I was not offered an apology or any sort of compensation, just a "thanks for the feedback that helps us", yes, however, it didn't help me. What a frustrating experience in what was a well marketed and highly reviewed hotel."

"Parking secure and valet parking if required. Reception and check in helpful and friendly. Room clean fresh bathroom excellent. Bar and lounge areas comfortable well furnished and decorated.All food menus wide range. Well cooked well presented. Breakfast good. Evening meal excellant.staff friendly. Grounds well kept and excellent walks. Definitely recommend. "

"I would not recommend. Place was so busy with Easter weekend and guests had nowhere to sit, tables dirty, queue for bag long, queue for food long, coffe at breakfast takes 30mins to arrive, didn’t clean our room, didn’t replace towels when asked, complained to manager and nothing done about it. Stay clear and stay at any of the gorgeous places in the Cotswolds "

"Staff were so helpful and friendly. Could not believe how quiet the nights were, considering we are in a town. Had a realy good nights sleep, plenty of hot water and super breakfasts. Would have liked to have an evening meal on site (but a helpful list was given us by reception of where to eat)"

"Lovely bar area and restaurant Staff were friendly. Be careful as rooms are outside of the hotel across the carpark with not great access. You have to walk across a muddy area to the rooms. The rooms do need updating but overall a pleasant stay."
