Our whole stay was enjoyable, the staff were pleasant and helpful, the only thing we found a bit of a problem was we booked a double bed but they gave us 2 singles pushed together.

Seems like McDonald group have stopped investing in this lovely old hotel.
Staff were excellent but room amenities were poor, no cold water, toilet seat hanging off and the bath filled with dirty water when the shower was turned on.
Great location for Chester and nearby car park was perfect.
The staff are lovely. The room OK I didn't rate the bathroom the tiles had a lot of mold on and the cold tap on the bath was so difficult to turn off the door on the bathroom stopped at the toilet so you had to go in sideways. Even though I didn't rate the bathroom I would still stay at the hotel again just not that room. I did mention the bathroom on checkout .
We always stay in this hotel because the location is right in the middle of Chester, the rooms are always clean and beds are comfortable. Lovely fluffy towels and nice toiletries. Our room had air conditioning though not available in all rooms I think, much needed for our stay in the extreme hot weather. Reception was very pleasant and welcoming and helpful. Great hotel to stay for a few days visit to Chester. we always stay at the back of the hotel as it is quieter.
The hotel is in an excellent position for exploring Chester. Breakfast was cooked to order and there's plenty of choice. There was a problem with one of the two rooms booked which was not fixed during our stay but we received a partial refund quickly.
Room far too hot, even with the plug in fans, unable to open any windows because they were sealed shut. Unable to get fresh air into the room.
Very uncomfortable nights sleep.
Room carpets were full of stains, need cleaning or better still replacing. Stains on the chair and sofa.
Staff in the bar in the evening were lovely and helpful. The bar was not very well stocked, many drinks unavailable.
2 days there - no hot water. Staff knew about it but did not tell us. No ice machines and the hotel ice machine was broken. Staff member did go to the restaurant and got us a some ice.
They did send us an email offering an upgrade if available for an extra cost we would agree to , but did not tell us how much the cost would be so we declined.
We could have used a business centre but did not see any notices about it so we did go to a lovely Stationery shop nearby on Forgate St.
Location is great
Central location, perfect for a visiting the City to see at show at the Storyhouse.

Fantastic location, rooms are a little dated but clean.
Bathroom was a little snug could do with re configuring as sink was too big for the room had to squeeze past to get to the toilet

A very nice room which could probably do with an update. Very comfortable bed. Quite noisy in the evenings with comings and goings from the pub next door, but not too bad. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Air conditioning, toilet and sink had some sort of maintenance issue. However, the front desk clerk moved us to another room where things were much better.
Gave a good impression on arrival, receptionist friendly and efficient. Room was good size, facilities good, comfortable bed for a good sleep. Bedroom needs some updating to give power/USB near bed.

Very pleased with our stay’
Room wonderful
Staff most obliging
Only problem was the bar was not open which was disappointing.
The room was very comfortable and beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helped me when I forgot my items back in the room when I had already checked out.
Room was lovely and clean and very spacious! Good facilities and very good location for our dinner reservations. Polite staff on reception and lovely reception area. Only giving 4 stars because of the noise as we were on the Main Street, lots of noise throughout the night, but I know that’s beyond the hotels problem.
