Nice boutique hotel but too many drawbacks. Biggest drawbacks: noisy rooms as you hear everything in the hallways (we had two rooms - both the same), breakfast outdoors only and many bugs that bite, no bar/beer to be bought. Best things: cool design, friendly staff, very central in old town
Stayed only one night, but loved it. When I return to Chiang Mai, I will definitely choose this hotel. Itโs affordable. The room is beautiful and the hotel itself is spectacularly, attractive, and sensual. Felt like I was staying in some sort of Yoni temple. Itโs on a very quiet side street. Our first floor room had a walkout patio. Could not recommend more Haile.

Booked a premium room. Size large but limited space in shower room, needs shelving and coat hooks. The restaurant does not serve evening meals as advertised by Expedia. Breakfast more Thai than European choices. No buffet and found breakfast menu very repetitive.
The ladies at the breakfast and the lady at the front desk were super super nice! We had an amazing experience at Makka. Great location and amazing hotel.
Very comfortable with a great staff. Only disappointment was my television didnโt work all week despite reporting it daily to front desk. Oh well, you donโt go to Chiang Mai to watch TV!
I highly recommend! I am a solo traveller, and I stayed 1 night in June 2023 before heading to an elephant sanctuary for a few nights.
Convenient locationโฆ3 mins walk to the Sunday night markets. Breakfast was fresh, and you sit in the courtyard overlooking the garden and water features. The room has excellent air conditioning which was a plus. The mattress is a little firm but absolutely fine for a stay. The staff are Uber helpful and tend to your every need. And the mini bar is stocked with bottled water and soft drinks which are all complementary. The street can be hard to locate, but everyone was helpful to point me in the right direction. Look for an alley off a Main Street, then walk 100metres until you find the green hedges.
Book with confidence!
The property is tucked away on a smaller side street near Chedi Luang and centrally located. Itโs really well designed and the staff are super friendly and attentive. I liked that you ordered from a menu for breakfast instead of a buffet. The property when we stayed was fairly quite and peaceful. Would definitely stay there again.
Makka is a beautifully designed boutique hotel in a quiet street yet in easy walking distance to the main Chiang Mai temples. Breakfast area is in a quiet courtyard garden with lovely water feature. Breakfast menu has both Thai & Western options to choose from & is freshly cooked along with fresh fruit, juice, tea & coffee. If you wish to relax there is the lovely library which has indoor comfy sofas & chairs as well as the ouside terrace with tables, chairs & loungers.
Our room was spacious with King bed, tv, spacious shower room. wifi was very good both in the room & library & breakfast areas. Service from all members of staff was exceptional, everyone was so polite & helpful. We would definitely stay at Makka again if we visit Chiang Mai in the future.
