This place was great. Staff was very nice and friendly. We felt very comfortable and almost at home. We did have e an issue with the Roku not being set up but staff was great getting all the info we needed and getting it all set up. On our last night the host even moved her car for us to take her spot because the lot was full. Will definitely book again.

The most surprising thing about this hotel is that it came with a washer dryer which was fantastic as I’ve been travelling for about a month and it was really wonderful to have that service. Plus it’s a very quirky hotel in the best way love the Clock collection!

This is our second time staying at the Gem Suites in Evanston. Everything is very clean. The staff is proficient and the breakfast is enjoyable. We also appreciate the free parking. We enjoyed ourselves and we come again last time. We had a larger suite which we liked better at our last stay. I would recommend this to any traveler who is staying for a couple of days and would enjoy an entire suite filled with a kitchenette.

The property and rooms were super clean and comfortable. I was so surprised to see this hidden GEM in Chicago. It is close to Devon street where we love to go for food and shopping so GEM will definitely be our stop every time we are in Chicago area. Breakfast was so good not the usual buffet at other places but a made to order and hot and yummy. The service was outstanding. I would give it a 10/10 and totally recommend it.

Great stay! Initially, there was a problem with the shower and they changed our room right away. The room was spotless including the kitchen area. Breakfast was delicious. Parking was convenient, especially when using the side entrance to the hotel. We would definitely stay there again.

Hotel is good for a last minute place to book and very convenient neighborhood location. It is a converted assisted living facility so it has the hallmarks, like drop ceiling, communal cafe, feel of an elderly care facility and utilitarian furniture and kitchenettes in the rooms, not comfort-first amenities. The check-in desk is exactly what you’d expect at an assisted living facility. I’ve stayed at good museum hotels and there are some things I expect at this type of hotel that are missing here. The “exhibits” don’t have any explanations, eg, and feel more like found items, maybe of the prior “residents,” and don’t have a connecting thread. The parlor is roped off. The space doesn’t feel inviting. The backyard garden is nice! Parking is open air and convenient, but requires help to figure it out the first time. My biggest gripe is the lack of good coffee, especially in the morning, unless you wait until the cafe (cafeteria?) opens and get it there. The coffee in the rooms is inadequate for anyone who likes coffee. Lack of coffee in the lobby in the morning is a good indicator of what to expect when staying here. The place is owned by an individual who also owns the small museum next door and clearly he doesn’t care about coffee or people who like coffee. I can see a lot of promise in this concept but ownership has gone cheap in too many ways to pull it off. Still a fine place to stay, but don’t go out of your way.

Lovely stay with helpful staff excellent location. Breakfast is a wonderful full dining experience -no pre packaged chain hotel offerings. One can easily walk to shopping, dining, cafes and Lake Michigan. Rooms very clean with lots of storage /closet space. Mini kitchens are fully equipped with new appliances that all work! Only comment is that bed and pillows were very firm and made it uncomfortable to sleep-this is the reason for 4 stars and not 5.
