The property needs an upgrade, it was a hot day. The air conditioning barely blew any air. Thank goodness the window opened after dark. I asked for 2 more pillows and I was told 2 pillows per person. (I did end up getting 2 more pillows), I had to argue to get them.
It was amazing stay at Dorint An Der Messe. It was clean, tidy and comfy. However, it will be good if they can review the pillow materials to make it more supportive.
good hotel for business trip as it is opposite the exhibitions halls, clean, comfortable, and helful stuff. but i think the rate is high according to the facilities.
Beautiful hotel, excellent location near the alt markt and river.
Only had one issue when the payment was taken out by the hotel when it was already paid in advance when I made the booking via hotel dot com. Obviously it was a human mistake but you very quickly resolved the issue and the hotel staff were very apologetic. That is the reason why I still going to give you an excellent review.
Overall I highly recommend this hotel.
Well maintained and clean Hotel. Rooms are bright and spacious.
Great location if you are visiting the arena. Otherwise be prepared for 1-2 km walks. At the same time, the surroundings seem to be safe at any time of day or night, and there is a tram stop right in front of the hotel

I booked into this hotel simply because it was graded as giving its Expedia Guests VIP access and special offers such a free upgrade to next room level and other special offers for Expedia Gold Status Guests ..
At check in , One could only describle the check in as very cold !
Hardly a smile , no eye contact - no mention of Expedia VIP access and any special offers related to that ..
Expedia was not mentioned .
No mention of breakfast or any other dining options within the hotel .
I have booked many hotel bookings through expedia over several years ..It felt at reception that i was not welcomed at this hotel ...
No problem i will use another hotel next time ...

Hotel was clean, but air conditioning in the rooms was not working properly. The rooms got super hot, as did the gym. Was hard to sleep.

Conviently situated in the heart of Cologne, nice clean room, comfy bed, slept well, the only issue I have is with staff, reception not freindly, not welcoming, bar staff afternoon unfreindly, evening staff great, breakfast staff not freindly. some technical issues not too serious also need attention, I did state them to the reception staff.

Fridge in room does not get colder then 50 f / 10 c. When I called the receptionist they said that they cannot help since all the rooms have the same fridge.
They should not post that the rooms have a fridge if it can’t get to a degree to keep food fresh.

Due to German covid rules, we did not go to the hotel. We lost the use of our booking -paid for but unable to utilize. Very Disappointed. The hotel did offer to change a name for one of our friends to use. We could not find anyone that could use especially with the current German rules.

Expedia posts under car parking, that a few places are available. The hotel states, that no own parking spaces are available and that a public parking, which is connected to the hotel basement, is available only at a cost of 25 EUR per day. The description by Expedia is wrong and misleading.

We booked the Hotel because of its brands great reputation, and the fact that the DFL had approved the Hotel to host Soccer teams. Finding the prior guests beverages in our rooms refrigerator, was very disturbing; especially during current COVID-19 cleanliness requirements.
When we addressed our concerns; in addition to a couple of other concerns; we received a disturbing lax response. As prior guests beverages were not removed the following day either; we approached the Housekeeper directly, learning that she was not aware at all.
Breakfast & Dinner servers were good, but Culinary team very weak; with exception of one. Breakfast was less than mediocre and very inconsistent.
Communication was poor; we ask about Spa area availability prior to arrival, and were told it was closed; but might open during our 11-day stay. We inquired again at check-in; requested to be informed when Spa would open. Needless to say; we learned during check-out that the Spa had opened July 1st; but we were never informed.
Closing we would say; that we felt cheated on various services and occasions; and could have stayed at the Hyatt (for $18 more a night); Maritim and Pullman for less than what we paid.
Providing us with a couple of Drink vouchers; which we were entitled to anyways, because of "every other day" Housekeeping service; did not make us happier. FD person should have realized that at the latest, when we requested the GM's business card.

On arrival, we were given a room which, when we went to it, had obviously been smoked in. However, when we approached reception about this, we were given another room at our request. This room was much better. The spa area was good and very welcome after a day in the city. The breakfast choices were good and plentiful. The hotel is a distance from the city centre, but there is a tram which stops just outside. We found the reception staff helpful but VERY impersonal. It would have been good to have a warmer welcome such as 'We hope you enjoy your stay' and, on leaving, 'Hope to see you again'.

Dorint needs a refresh to entice past clients back
I have used the dorrint for the last five years and this time it was more apparent that the hotel was less attractive that it was 5 years ago .
We booked a superior room again but little things marred the stay and on reflection made us think we need to change to somewhere else.
The breakfast this time was not included so we paid the 26 euros per person to eat in the restaurant but myself and partner and our friends after using the facility found the selection limited and even bland from our previous visits the cooked selection was or had been left for a period of time.
We used the bar facilities in the evening this after a pleasant walk from the Dom but again from past experience we found nothing positive to compare with from the past visits .
