“This is an old rooming house that has seen better days, say around 1910. Perhaps it is better in summer when one can have windows open, but the apartment stank of mildew. The electricity is on a meter and one must put coins in to keep it going. In winter they grant a base of a few pounds of electricity per day, but this seems a very out of date system. Finally, the shower did not function. This rooming house was just about the only option for those wishing for a room in Port Erin at the time...

“A lovely warm welcome, staff were all brilliant and friendly. Lovely rooms available but we got a room with a rubbish view, broken drainage pipes, water gushing noise. Unfortunately the swimming pool was out of use also but was offered usage of sister hotel down road but not the same as being able to just pop down to use it. Breakfasts were lovely. Encore bar and restaurant were brill lovely food and drinks . Just a shame about what could have been a 5 star ”
