Vacation Rentals in La Altagracia

"The resort itself was extremely enjoyable. Not over crowded. Good food , great drinks & friendly staff. Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience the first 30 minutes into our stay. The rooms do not offer an interior lock such as a dead bolt. As we were settling in & changing to bathing suits house keeping entered unannounced to deliver towels. They apologized - we were shocked. Than about 15 minutes later , A bell boy escorted a different couple into our room !! We went down to the front desk to explain what happened & They said our room was showing unassigned ( Someone made a mistake ). No compensation was offered at this point. The next day we asked the front desk to order us a taxi from the resort to another resort with a casino - The taxi arrived and transported us 10 minutes down the road to the wrong location. Tried to order us out of the car and into an unmarked “ taxi “ with 5 men standing around it. Uncomfortable we refused to get out and demanded he drive us back to the resort. He did. Ultimately after all of this , the resort apologized and offered us a private dinner on the beach ( which then was canceled due to rain & moved inside ). Im not sure I agree this was the correct solution for us. Its a shame because we absolutely love the resort. But will not be returning. We feel the situation was not taken seriously. "

"We loved our stay at this resort. Staff was friendly and helpful. There were so many activities to do. Everything was clean and tidy. There was a problem with the drain in our bathroom and they fixed it right away. Food was good for Dominican standards. "

"Smell the towels . Pool & Room towels sometimes smell REALLY BAD. Staff finally told me that Dirty water is frequently used for washing machines . The other RIU resorts in area seem to be of higher quality . Our room had a non functioning AC unit. Bell hop told us to dial 9 to have it fixed . Well ….the phone didn’t work either . TV & Coffee machine too . We switched rooms and things were fine."

"We had a wonderful vacation at Excellence El Carmen. The property is well maintained and the rooms quite spacious. There are numerous restaurants to choose from and the food was delicious. The one exception was the buffet which was a bit sub- par but we only visited that restaurant once. The pools are refreshing and the beach area maintained well. But the biggest highlight was the treatment we received from all the staff. They made our trip memorable. "

"I went during the end of March. It was so packed because of spring break. Lots of families and college kids. There was a small older crowd too. But overall we had a blast. The entertainment could have been better during the day and night for the adults. But food was great. And there were plenty of options for swimming pools. I would definitely go back to this resort. It is my favorite resort I’ve been to in the Caribbean. I don’t think I would go back during spring break (March/April) to avoid the adolescents. 10/10 resort! "
