“The hotel was beautiful, our ocean view room was great and the staff were very kind and helpful. The only downsides are that the hotel is far from Funchal and most other tourist landmarks/hiking trails, which is inconvenient. Also, there are a lot of hidden costs, like the poolside beds, laundry or spa services. Overall it was an amazing stay if you want to relax but if you want to explore the island I’d recommend staying in Funchal.”

“My husband and I had an excellent stay at the editory. The hotel was very clean, the facilities were great and the staff were all lovely. The bed was very comfortable and a great shower also. The location was perfect! There were lots of very good restaurants nearby and a shopping mall 2mins walk from the hotel. Would definitely return and recommend to friends and family.”

“Centrally located in town. Tons of restaurants and bars to pick from. Great hotel overall. Only disadvantage is parking is either on street or in a parking garage requiring you to bring your luggage too and from where you park.”

“Great hotel, in a great location. Pool days were perfect! Nice being able to order food and drinks poolside. Nice being on the coast away from the busy city centre. Rooftop was amazing and an added bonus, a bit windy and chilly later in the evening.”

“Pestana Royal is a very outdated hotel. If you are looking for clean modern look that is not the place for you. If you are looking for a place with high quality food that is not the right place. Food quality is very poor. It is a very mediocre place with clean rooms and very mediocre food.”
