"From outside the hotel looks grand and impressive, but once you enter it becomes the opposite. The room was musty and had the most uncomfortable bed I have slept on. The shower barely worked and there were cobwebs along the base of the bed and on the ceiling. Don't get me started on the restaurants. Terrible food. Inedible to be honest. I love all styles of Japanese food and have no food issues whatsoever, this food was straight up prison food at best. I would highly recommend avoiding this...

The room was wonderful and had everything we needed for a short snowboarding trip. The room was very clean and well-maintained, and I wished I had more time chilling in bed. Highly appreciate the thoughtful hosts, and we had a BLAST! 10000% would come back again

A family-run homestay. I was fascinated by the ypical Japanese home, the minimal design, sliding doors, mats for beds, the ingenious storage... MY guestroom was Western in every way (tv, upright bed, a.c.) but I enjoyed my insight into real Japanese life. The proprietress is a master gardener, too.

We really enjoyed our stay at this family run ryokan. Staff was friendly and helpful and the room was spacious and clean. Food was excellent and had a very warm, home cooked meal vibe. Access to town was good and easy and skiing conditions were top notch!

I just loved loved loved loved loved staying here — the owners are wonderful. Extremely hospitable and helpful. It has a local Japanese vibe that you don’t get in some places

Hotel staff was always very friendly and cordial. The hotel has a good ambience and the room was spacious and clean. The one negative was the archaic counsel and room lighting and ventilation controls adjacent to the bed. However, the hotel is convenient to the JR Niigata Station so getting around was relatively easy.
