The "Temple of the Dolls" in the distance. Sadly, we didn't have enough time to see it up close. The doorways of the temple were built in exact solar alignment with the rising sun, so the early rays pass through them on the Spring and Fall equinoxes, marking the beginning of planting season and the beginning of harvest season.
Cenote Xlakah, a beautiful freshwater pool just off the side of the main plaza of Dzibilchaltun. The cenote is a popular local swimming hole and is open daily. It's filled with countless small fish that nibble the dead skin off of you. A bit disconcerting, but ultimately harmless. I hear there are spas in Manhattan that offer the same service for several hundred dollars.
A few low pyramids are located not far from the cenote.
