Estoril Vintage Hotel

"Possibly the world’s best hotel! I almost hesitate to write this because it feels as though we’ve discovered gold in a world full of noise and sameness — a true gem I want to keep secret. But the extraordinary people behind this independent hotel deserve every bit of recognition. The hotel is stunning, with breathtaking views and a wonderful location, but what makes it exceptional is the team. Incredibly professional, yet genuinely warm, friendly and engaging. In a world of generic, impersonal or overly snooty hotels, none of that exists here. It felt like arriving home to family you actually love hanging out with! The food is excellent too — breakfast, restaurant and bar menus. They even have their own farm, and the olives and olive oil are delicious. We came away with a bottle of olive oil to extend the tastes back home! Walk the promenade into Cascais; Lisbon is easy by train or taxi, and the airport is 30–45 minutes away. A giant thank you to Maria, Jorge, Solame, Carine, Francesco, David, Hugo, Paulo, Luciano, Maria João and everyone else who made our stay so special. Apologies to anyone I missed — my eyesight for name badges, not your wonderful work! :) We’ll return over and over. A truly special place."

"Monica and Catarina are wonderful hosts. Despite numerous travel delays, they stayed late to check me in in-person, with a welcome drink. They were also gracious enough to securely store my bags for a few hours after checkout, while I explored Cascais for the day. The bed was super comfortable, but the ventilation in the bathroom could be better. The breakfast selection was excellent and there is a peekaboo ocean view from the rooftop. Their puppy, Lola, is sure to bring a smile to your face. The area is very quiet, save for a few neighborhood dogs (and a distant rooster). It’s a quick ~10 minute walk to Praia da Poça, but don’t attempt with your bags. The Uber/Bolt costs to get to & from Cascais proper are easily offset by the reasonable nightly rates. A clean, comfortable, and overall excellent stay and I would highly recommend!"

"The only thing we didn’t enjoy about our stay was the check-in experience. We arrived around 8:00 a.m. and were told our room was empty, but we still weren’t able to check in early. We ended up waiting until 4:00 p.m. Since we’ve stayed at other hotels that were able to accommodate an earlier check-in when rooms were available, we were disappointed that this wasn’t possible here. Aside from that, we enjoyed our stay."

"Renovated character house, great location. Clean and good breakfast. Penthouse/top floor rooms have a beautiful view of the ocean (walking distance) We rented the "penthouse". It actually is the top floor of the house, with three independant rooms where the hallway has a door that on closing gives privacy to the three rooms in that floor. In actuality it works as adjoining rooms in an hotel. So unless planning to use three rooms you are better off getting individual rooms Specially since no kitchenette/washer dryer in rooms/area. As the add sais, no elevator BUT top floor is equivalent to 3 flights of stairs (not short flights), so if with children/limited mobility for that top floor think about it and about hauling your luggage. At a distance you could hear the slam of the main door/garden door to common area, didnt bother, but might be bothersome if you are in a room in main or second floor. The breakfast area is a totally separated dwelling in the garden. So to heat anything, store in fridge you have to walk out side to the common area. Beautiful rock garden, dont be tempted to walk out of the main path on to rocks. One of our group did that.... hard surface under the rocks and they slipped... whe thought resulted in a sprained ankle (little did we know was a fracture... go up 3 flights of stairs with that!). Now thats our own fault. In summary if you have any level of mobility issues, elderly, travelling with kids...be wise on choosing which floor you stay."

"Rooms are a bit dated but the fridge stove and microwave are great to have. Bathroom also dated and really small. The bathtub shower combo leaks, Balcony doors and balcony are lovely. Beds are extremely firm and two single beds pushed together isn’t a proper queen or king bed. Breakfast was a nice feature of the stay, but it was the same every morning. The fresh fruit was great, but there could have been more variety with the hot options of eggs and shredded ham/sausage combo that was the same everyday. Pastries were store bought and also the exact same every day. Variety would have been nice. No pastel de Natas served in Portugal for breakfast, very odd. Sushi restaurant in the hotel only open once a week. Front desk staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Really liked having the hotel arranging a driver for airport pickup and drop off. Hotel pool area was nice with the fountain and variety of loungers and umbrellas. The pool water was a bit chilly."
