"All of the staff were so kind and helpful. We were able to check in early after a red eye flight. Our group enjoyed the quiet and the cozy lounge spaces to hang out as a group. We used the restaurant for all of our meals as we arrived on a windy, rainy day. This is a great spot to stop for a night if you plan to visit the Blue Lagoon after flying into REK. The lava fields surrounding the hotel are other worldly!"

"This is not a comment about the Start Hostel but about Expedia which seems to have deteriorated dramatically as a service provider in recent month. I went to check in for my stay starting May 28th - 29th and the system booked a room for me for May 27th - 28th. When I attempted to contact Expedia on their Virtual Chat or to Cancel the reservation, the system gave an error and would not let me do the same. "We were in room 1 - it was very large. Two sofas three bedrooms three bathrooms and a large kitchen. The warm air hit us as we walked in the door - very nice. No awful sprays or other bad odors. It was just what we needed including a washing machine to clean the baby clothes. I recommend staying here. It is a very practical and comfortable place. Papa’s pizzas and fish and chips is near and has good food. Other sights are close by and not busy."
