Globe - Miami, Arizona hotel rooms at the Independent

"Entering the room it started off looking pretty good, however opening the fridge it was flooded with water, the freezer was covered in ice and dripping into the fridge. The cupboards were very dusty and had food/crumbs from the last person. The remote had liquid dried on it, it was gross, the housekeeping doesnt clean as much as you would expect only going into rooms once a week. The pool was filled with bugs and when asking the front desk if I can use the skimmer so my kids could swim, I was told no only maintenance can do that... the next day. It works in a pinch, but if there is another hotel near by try to go there 1st."

"We have stayed here multiple times when visiting the area and have always been satisfied. The building is very solid, quiet, clean, and well maintained. Staff is friendly and competent. Decent breakfast setup and good coffee."

"The property is clean and new. Very basic, minimalist. No pots or pans because "they disappear" per staff but I was directed to a store to buy pots and pans. No ice machine as the in room fridges have them, but ours did not work. A/C was fine. There is no pool, and I missed that in the property listing. My fault, but it is worth noting in Phoenix/Mesa."

"2 used condom wrappers in drawer of nightstand when we checked into king room with jetted tub #339. Also used towell on rack in bath. It was late I crashed and told staff about it in the morning. They were so apologetic and said they would check and clean the entire room. Came back that night and they had done nothing. Didnt even make the change the sheets, make the bed or change the towells let alone removing condom wrappers. Un F'n believable. I thot I was being punked on tv. Ha... dont stay here you will regret it. The listing looks good but believe me its nothing more than lipstick on a pig. "

"The best part of this stay was the home cooked breakfast. Best I've tasted in a long time in a hotel. Room was clean, comfy and spacious, although bathroom was cramped. Problem for us was our room faced the car parking area and the room was not well sound proofed. So although other guests were mindful of noise, some cars beep when they are locked and that noise is intrusive. I blame car manufacturers! Also, the room was not particularly private as other guests walked past our window (we were on 2nd floor) and we had to keep blind down for privacy. We could also hear every word because of the poor sound proofing. No idea what the hotel can do to sort this problem. Posting this information so future guests are aware. Apart from this, the hotel is great."
