Property was very good for a family. We took 2 separate rooms. Staff were accommodating to give us rooms adjacent to each other. Rooms were spacious. Good restaurant in the property and breakfast was included. Though lunch was a bit expensive. Has a private beach and some activities included in the price which was a plus. The only negative which needs to be taken care of is that the toilet has no door to separate it from the bathroom or from the bedroom also. While this may have been done keeping honeymoon couples in mind it does create foul smell in the room as there is no exhaust.

NICE RESORT WITH SOME ATTENTION NEEDED

After reading the previous reviews about this hotel I wasn't expecting much. But actually, I was blown away by the hotel. We had a beautiful room that opened onto a small swimming pool that was shared with 5 or 6 other rooms. The garden areas are really well cared for. The hotel has its own but of private beach. The breakfast buffet was of a really high calibre. We are in the restaurant on two evenings, and the food was amazing. The hotel has its own boat service where they will take you out for snorkel trips, or water skiing. Twice a week they have a glass bottom boat. Would definitely recommend this hotel, and if I return to Mauritius, would stay there again.

Although the garden room was spacious, there was no door to enter the bathroom and toilet which is very odd as you could see directly into the bathroom and toilet from the bed which for us becomes a lack of privacy issue. The bathroom could also have been a lot cleaner. There was a unpleasant smell too of the drainage.we found there ants everywhere, eventually the cleaner gave us some spray to kill bugs.

The ocean is nice and the ladies in reception, one of them is named Jennifer, is exceptionally nice and makes you feel welcome. She was incredibly kind. Food was quite disappointing- ordered an omelette for breakfast and it had burned black bits in it from previous food cooked in the pan as they don’t clean their pans. Was kind of disgusting really. However the staff was friendly, but just felt like the hotel tried to find the worst quality produce to save on costs. The ocean villas are far better and more private than the other accommodation

While I appreciated the hospitality and found most of the staff to be friendly, there were a few issues that left me disappointed. Upon arrival, I noticed that my bed sheets and pillow had several blood stains, which was quite concerning. After informing the reception, they did try to resolve the issue, which I appreciate, but such a situation should not have occurred in the first place. I believe housekeeping standards should be reviewed to ensure better cleanliness for future guests. Additionally, I encountered an issue with billing. I had only one extra drink during my stay, which I paid for immediately, as the rest was included in my booking. However, on the night before my departure, the receptionist informed me that I still had an open bill on my room. This was frustrating, as I knew I had settled my payment. I have experienced similar situations in other countries, and while I was not entirely surprised, I was disappointed to see it happen here. That being said, I do want to acknowledge that most of the staff were warm and welcoming, and I generally found people in Mauritius to be friendly and honest compared to other places I’ve traveled.

Good hotel for the price you pay

Hotel was great, you definitely get what you pay for. We stayed at the Beach Room and it was wonderful. The pool was clean and the view was so beautiful. The staff was really kind and flexible. We had a nice welcome and staff in the reseption helped us with any questions we had. Hotel arranged the airport transportation for us and the driver was so nice and told us a lot about the island on the way to the hotel. The hotel also booked us our own driver Sashi, who drove us around the island for additional cost and booked us a catamaran tour, which was the highlight of our holiday. He was so nice and helpful and teached us so much about Mauritius, so I would 10/10 recommend to book him as your driver if you need one. The hotel also offers complimentary watersports. We tried the glass bottom boat and the speed boat and both were good! We also tried the Balinese massage and would definitely recommend to try it! The property and views to the sea were beautiful! They were also fixing up the hotel during the time we were there. Breakfast was really good and tasty. And the staff in the restaurant were also kind. Hotel was a bit far from the center but taxi cost only 300 mru to the malls, so that didn’t bother us. Over all we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again!

Horrible. Go somewhere else.

If you consider going here- think again. This place is absolutely terrible in so many ways. This is what you can expect. - Insects in your room. We had thousands of ants making a ant highway right through the apartment. The staff sprayed some poison in the room and they died, so now we hade thousands of dead insects laying around. The next evening there were a new highway, - The facility is so old and completely worn out. All windows are not possible to close, many pieces of furniture are somewhat broken or nipped. Sounds from the outside travel right through to the inside. The place is just rotten to the core. - The food in the restaurant is below mediocre. - Tons of flies in the restaurant - Bad value for the money compared to what better places charge There is good things also. The boat driver is doing a great job. The cleaning ladies try their best but it is mission impossible to achieve a miracle. The gardeners are keeping the garden really nice.

Good value at a reasonable cost

Ocean Villas is a simple family budget hotel and, as such, provides good value for money. The initial welcome was a little cool, but the front desk got warmer, and a few issues we had with the room were solved well and fairly promptly. We were early and our room was not ready, but it was ready right at the official check-in time. The front desk was flexible and helpful with a late check out time. The complex has a tired feel to it and is in need of some TLC - a roof scrub and bit of whitewash on all the outside walls would help the external appeal greatly. Our room, billed as renovated/contemporary, was nice but a bit tired - quite spacious and with a good-sized bathroom. The hotel has natural, simple, well-kept gardens and it lies directly on a very pleasant small and quite private beach with great views of the Bay and with some water-based activities. We had the evening buffet several times, and they were all very good - reasonably wide choice, well cooked, varied and tasty. The breakfast buffet was also varied and decent. Our one a la carte evening was disappointing, the food mediocre and the service slow (no desserts delivered to anyone until the entire restaurant had finished the main course).The evening entertainment was not always to our taste, but it was nice to have it provided and the guests seemed to enjoy it. The piped music during the day was good (lots of well-known international songs, locally recorded and to a fine reggae rhythm.

Absoluter Albtraum – Finger weg von diesem Hotel!!! Wir buchten die sogenannte Honeymoon Suite – ein schlechter Witz! Die Möbel waren alt, kaputt und wackelig, der Gestank nach Schimmel kaum auszuhalten. Als wir an der Rezeption um ein anderes Zimmer baten, hieß es nur, man kenne das Problem bereits – ein Wechsel war aber erst nach drei Tagen möglich! Das neue Appartement war kaum besser. Trotz ausdrücklicher Bitte, kein Housekeeping durchzuführen, standen plötzlich täglich fremde Menschen im Zimmer. Einmal wurde sogar die Balkontür offen gelassen, woraufhin ein Vogel hereinkam und das ganze Zimmer vollgekotet hat. Das Bad? Ein Albtraum: Schimmel in jeder Ecke, kaputte Duschtüren, alles völlig heruntergekommen. Doch der Höhepunkt kam am Abreisetag: Wir wurden bestohlen! Mehrere Kleidungsstücke (darunter Unterwäsche!), Medikamente und meine AirPods der 4. Generation waren verschwunden. Wir meldeten es sofort an der Rezeption – doch Niemand fühlte sich zuständig. Statt Hilfe bekamen wir nur Achselzucken und saßen 1,5 Stunden in der Lobby, während auf der „Wo ist?“-App klar zu sehen war, dass sich meine AirPods im Personalbereich befanden! Weder wurde die Polizei gerufen noch war das Management des Hotels bemüht uns zu helfen und die Angelegenheit zu klären! Trotz mehrmaliger Nachfrage, haben wir bis heute keine Antwort erhalten!!! Fazit: Schimmel, Inkompetenz, Diebstahl und völlige Ignoranz! Dieses Hotel ist schlicht das ALLER LETZTE – wer hier bucht, ist selbst schuld!!!

Points positifs : Restauration de qualité, du choix et du personnel agréable. Massage dans un lieu très propre, du personnel extrêmement gentille, sympathique et agréable. Très professionnelle offrant une magnifique expérience. Mon coup de coeur. Point négatif : l’accueil de l’hôtel est quasiment inexistant ! Pas d'explication, manque d’organisation. Bref nous sommes loin des standards qui se pratiques en Europe ou même La Réunion et Madagascar. Piscine, non concordance entre la brochure du site internet et la réalité ! C’est bien dommage. Plage: oubliez, ce n’est pas le bon endroit.
