First, this is a motel, not a lodge. And I’d rate it lower than most motels with a number between 5 and 7 for reasons the follow.
Second, when we arrived, outside was about 78 degrees. When we opened the door to the room, the outside air rushed into the room. Inside, it was hot. The thermostat read 85 degrees. No idea why but we used to override and set it to 68, the minimum. We left to let the room cool despite being tired after driving from Phoenix. After a little more than hour, it was 75. We called the office and they agreed to send someone up while we went to the market for sundries. Another hour plus after waking the 1.5 miles back, it was still 75, maybe five degrees warmer than outside. We called again and we’re told to give it time. We left the windows and door open to cool the room but couldn’t get it below 73. Right before we left the next meeting, the vent started putting out cold air.
No idea what happened but, for the rates this place charges, the a/c needs to work. Still, this is how Xterra works- fancy website, minor poorly installed cosmetic upgrades and boost the rates beyond reasonable.
Yes, the location is amazing. But, where’s the fee going? Maybe they pay staff $100/hour. We will not return to this motel.
