โOverall everything was good, our only issue was after being there for a few days we noticed the toaster was full of crumbs, obviously not been emptied for quite some time, and the oven tray had not been cleaned after it had been used. We hadnโt met the owner, so decided it was easier just to clean them both before using them.
On the hole, everything else was excellent.
There was no recycling facilities, which was quite a surprise, and also a slight disappointment. Everything else was above...
โSet in lovely countryside views, owners & staff all veey friendly & helpful, fabulous choice of breakfasts, meals available during evening also with a varied menu including gluten free. No hesitation in recommending The Royal Oak for any length of stay, wish we could have stayed for longer!!!!โ
โIt was lovely. We were well looked after. The staff and locals were friendly. The Stables were a row of Butlinโs style chalets. It was perfectly set up for self catering with a fridge, toaster and microwave. โ
โFantastic two night stay in a great establishment. Room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast to die for and proper pub on site to enjoy a great pint, local friendliness and some brilliant evening entertainment. Iโll definitely be back. ๐โค๏ธโ
โBeautiful hotel, decor was fantastic, everything spotless and of the highest standard. Breakfast was amazing - restaurant standard. Canโt recommend this place highly enough, 5 mins walk down the hill to the town โ
โFrom the moment we arrived till the morning we left we were made very welcome by all the people involved in running the OYO . They went above and beyond to help us out from Georgia booking taxis for us to my friend behind the bar going to his house to get me cigarettes when I had run out big thanks (hope you enjoy Edinburgh ๐๐๐) cleanliness spot on ,food amazing, and very reasonable for top quality,. would recommend to anyone looking forward to seeing you all again thanks

โI forgot what they call it when thereโs a gem within a gem; I think the term is inclusion. In any case Durham itself as a gem, and this hotel feels like the best of the charming character of Durham distilled into a building thatโs at once historical, and yet completely full of modern convenience.โ
โHave just returned from a wonderful break at the Black Horse.
The surroundings are idyllic with lavender fields, apple and plum trees as well as all the beaitiful plants
Everywhere is immaculately maintained from the grounds to the restaurant and cottages.
The staff were so kind and helpful .
Would return in a heartbeat.
