“Warm welcome and amazing, helpful staff team. Lovely clean rooms and great water pressure. Buffet style cooked breakfast was only thing that was not 100% ... one day it was all pretty dried under the lights, although the next stay it was much busier and breakfast was fresher as turnaround of stock was faster. We ate one night in the restaurant and the food was good but a little pricy, although expected for a hotel restaurant. We would definitely stay again if in the area.”

“We used the Hare & hounds as a stopover on our way home but will give serious consideration to returning to explore the Lakes from there”

“On the whole there wasn't anything that we didn't like about our stay. We had a superior room which was very spacious. We couldn't fault the cleanliness of the room, bar/lounge area or the restaurant. The breakfast and dinner menus were v.good. Staff were pleasant and helpful. These are my honest accounts. My only regret is that we did not find the time to use the pool or sauna. However they do serve a lovely pale ale at the bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.”

“The hotel is well placed to explore the area. The room was comfortable, clean and great for the 2 nights we stayed. The bar was cosy with the wood burner on, breakfast set you up for the day and dinner was tasty and substantial 😁 The staff were friendly and helpful; we would stay again”

“Was a fantastic stay with friendly staff who looked after us. Absolutely one of the best stays on an hotel. Food also was excellent. Both me and my wife would recommend the Gateway.”

“Very helpfull and friendly staff especially Morgan and Megan. Room clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed. Excellent views of Lake Windermere. Food was delicious with superb gluten free options”

“On check in, we had to vacate our room due to plumbing issues along the whole corridor. We had to wait another hour before our new room was ready, which was fine as it was out of their control to a degree. Our only complaint was that we had to ask for a complimentary drink or similar whilst we were waiting.....they should've offered that immediately, guests shouldn't have to ask, it's the least they can do! Other than that it was a pleasant stay.”

“very lovely place. I want to go again!”

“Nice, Big Room! Beautiful Decorated House. Helpful and Friendly staff.”

“Exceptional stay! Beautiful breakfast, great location and very clean! Would highly recommend.”

“Five stars aren't enough! My family and I were incredibly impressed. The rooms were spotless, and the staff was exceptionally kind and helpful. With a spacious parking lot and the best food I’ve ever had in the UK, we will definitely be back!”

“The property has real presence and looks stunning. Its decor is in keeping with the property and looks a bit worn but makes it feel loved. Breakfast was good but we had to wait both days for the food to be topped up as there’s only one waiter trying to do everything. The room was large and bed was comfy. The bathroom was not good no water pressure so water came out very slowly and not very hot. Shower unit was very noisy and no heating for such a big bathroom apart from a towel rail so it was...
