"Breakfasts were awesome. Lots of choices. Sajeda was such an enjoyable employee. She checked us in, sold us a glass of wine, changed a light bulb, put out fresh coffee cups and took away the dirty. She was working hard--all while smiling. (during the strike)."
"The breakfast was very disappointing. The strike by hotel and restaurant workers had an obvious impact on the breakfast experience;though we only found out on arrival, when at reception we were told that no hot food would be on offer. This was a major problem for my wife who has significant blood-sugar problems. The choice of low sugar foods was woeful with only two choices of fruit, both not classed as low sugar. The choice of cereals and pastries did not compensate for the lack low sugar staples such as egg, beans and bacon. There was no sign of any diabetic food nor any labelling of sugar content on what was available.
The room was not serviced for the week we were there but fresh towel were provided on request.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
At no time were we offered any form of compensation for the inconvenience and significant reduction in the level of service we had expected from this status of hotel.
( I assume an expected reduction in the cost to Expedia will be passed on to us.)

"A disappointing and frustrating stay. Our visit didn't get off to a good start when check in involved the only unfriendly and unhelpful person we met in our Norway trip. We felt like second class citizens and she couldn't wait to be rid of us. It didn't get better when we went over the road to an annex building, security was lax as the door took ages to close and there was no card needed to work the lift. The room was very dark and had a high window onto a grim back of building scene. We had to check our booking to see if we had booked an economy room by mistake. We hadn't and the room had no resemblance to the pictures in the booking. Added to this the electrics seemed strange and lights would randomly switch themselves on and off. The next morning the bathtub the shower was in was very slippery with no grab handle. I slipped in the shower and only just managed to stop myself falling through the glass screen. I went to reception and the much friendlier lady agreed to change our room. But it meant that we were without a room until 3.30 that afternoon. It was a cold and wet day and we had to wait and dry out in reception as we watched lots of people checking in and going to their rooms. I asked to speak to a manager but was told none were available and was given an email address as a method of complaint. I wrote to it while shivering in the lobby, no reply yet. When given a room it was a double not a twin. Back at reception they immediately found a new room, which was lovely. "
"The hotel was far far too expensive for what it was. Only allowed guests to use the spa for free AM, when the plunge pools were not open; shocking really given the unbelievable price we had paid. Would never ever stay again and would not recommend it to anyone."
"When we booked the hotel there was a complimentary evening included. However due to there being a national strike in Norway in the hospitality and restaurant industry. This had been cancelled. The breakfast buffet was excellent. There was also a free traditional Fikar in the afternoon (coffee and cake). The staff were obviously working excessive hours due to the shortage of staff. I hope their hard work is duly rewarded by their management. I couldn't find fault with the hotel. Rosa the manager deserves the Order of St Olav for her commitment to the hotel and guests."
"The buffet breakfast was very good, with so many selections. A great value considering how expensive it is to eat in Norway. The staff was very nice and helpful, and the room was basic but clean and the bed was comfortable. This is not a luxury hotel, but perfect if all you need is a place to sleep and eat a fulfilling breakfast. You can't beat the location, right on the waterfront, and a nice little bar on the ground floor for people watching."
