"The Mayan Monkey is a very attractive place located in the South of Isla Mujeres. It is very quiet, right on the ocean, but located far from nightlife and restaurants. A city bus or taxi can take you to the more active north part of the island. We paid for an included breakfast for 3 days. On the first day the service took more than an hour and the eggs we ordered over medium came back as sunny side up. The second day the eggs came back over hard. The third day we tried to cancel the breakfast but the manager refused to refund the money. They provided only 2 coffee pods for the in-room coffee pot for a 3 day stay and said we would need to pay if we wanted any more. The staff were very pleasant, however. "

"This place was PERFECTLY located. We got a room on the first floor, so when you open your sliding door out to your little porch you’re right in front of the pool, then right across the street is the actual beach. Absolutely perfect! The rooms are run down a bit but I know salt water does that to properties. Will definitely stay here again!"

"While the property had great possibility, sadly the entire stay felt disjointed due to the way things are run. Example- rooftop pool that has no food/bar available…even though there is a restaurant on the rooftop. The hotel advertised that the rooftop bar was open at 3pm, yet we never saw any staff there until the restaurant prepped to open. The staff seemed undertrained and consistently put into circumstances where they were unsure of how to fulfill a request. Again, while the property was nice, I would not recommend returning until management irons out quite a few wrinkles. "
