James Bond Beach Tours

A clear blue sky, a sandy beach, and palm trees.
A clear blue sea with a stone pier and a forested island in the distance.
A lake with a wooden pier extending into the water, surrounded by green hills and clear blue sky.
A calm lake with two boats, one anchored and one docked, surrounded by lush greenery and a clear blue sky.
A clear turquoise pool with floating pink buoys, surrounded by palm trees and a stone deck with benches.

Unwind on this secluded beach under the Jamaican sun then sip a cocktail, agent 007-style, and watch the sunset from a beachside bar.

From its humble setting, the secluded James Bond Beach catapulted to international fame for its role in the James Bond film, ‘Dr. No’. It hasn’t lost its relaxing vibe though. Swim in the calm tropical water and enjoy the backdrop of the surrounding St Mary’s mountains. Bring a book and unwind on one of the deck chairs or stroll over the rocks along the winding terrace. At sunset, order “agent 007’s” signature drink and watch the evening set in.

Bond enthusiasts will be thrilled to know that opposite the beach, hidden by lush tropical forest, is the GoldenEye estate. This is where Ian Fleming wrote his James Bond spy novels and many of his other books. The famous author designed the estate himself. The luxury holiday house is now owned by Bob Marley’s former music producer Chris Blackwell.

A string of other famous people have been associated with the James Bond Beach, including Jamaica’s own legendary musician Bob Marley and the equally mellow band members of UB40. With musical ties like these, many an international music concert has been held on the lawns of the resort.

This quiet beach is known for its clear waters, watersports, wave-runner tours, so have a swim or try one of the activities. For lunch, grab a plate of fresh seafood at the Moonraker Jamaican Bar and Grill. The breeze flows through this quintessential beach bar as tourists and locals alike enjoy the views of Caribbean Sea.

Located on the north coast of Jamaica, the beach is on Oracabessa Bay, 10 miles (16 kilometers) from Ocho Rios. If you are driving from Ochos Rios to Oracabessa, pass the gas station and the bridge and turn left down an unpaved road. There is an entrance fee and amenities include a change room and showers. In the high season, the beach is open daily but not at night. In the low season, the opening hours are even more limited, so check before you go.
