Beautiful traditional Ryokan with the most lovely hosts running it! Had a great little hot spring for relaxing and the Japanese breakfast was amazing and such a good way to start the day
Very convient location for visiting kanazawa castle and kenrokuen, as well as Omicho Market. Staff was friendly and always greeted me when I was coming and going.
Traditional ryokan in the heart of Kanazawa! Minutes away from the market and the castle.
The staff is super friendly and the rooms are very comfortable and spacious
It was our first experience of traditional Ryokan and we found the owner extremely helpful, great location and great experience. Very comfortable and family oriented business rather than large hotel calling itself Ryokan.
Very friendly to us as foreigners. Host comminicated well in English. Beautifully kept property. We found our first experience with futon beds very comfortable and the full bath in our room (paid extra for because I have tattoos and didnt wish to insult anyone in the main bath) was very comfortable. In summer, it is very warm in the main building, but individual rooms have aircon, which was a great relief in the "totemo atsuii" weather.
Would very much stay again and try the breakfasts next time. Please visit here, but with reasonable expectations that this is a traditional japanese experience.
We had a wonderful stay at Sumiyoshiya. The property itself is older but very well taken care of and our room was clean and comfortable. The owners were extremely friendly and the entire stay (check-in, check-out, etc) was very pleasant. But the best part was the kaiseki dinner that was available as an additional option (approx. $50-60/person). It was a seafood feast featuring all the fresh daily catch from the fish market next door. It was so delicious and amazing that I'd stay here again just for the dinner! The location was great; an easy walk from the main station, right next to the famous Omicho Market and a short walk to the Kenrokuen Garden. I highly recommend Sumiyoshiya for the hospitality and the amazing dinner!
