Really nice option close to bus stops to hakata & 15min from the castle/city etc. Staff were quite and even got to checkin before 3pn which is a rarity in Japan. Fairly average breakfast though (at least the 'western' part).
Overall it was positively good. Excellent service, room mades are so kind, helpful and super. The view could not be better. Clean. The breakfast is so amazing. The room is bare minimum but no negative point at all. The public big bath was excellent. Thank you for your hospitality.
Location is good, close enough to everything where it’s not too much of a hassle if you get hungry in the middle of the night to grab food, see the castle, forest, beach or whatever during the day. Room as expected was clean. Staff was helpful.
A convenient and inexpensive place to stay. We had a nice view of the river and the castle. The breakfast was delicious and had a nice variety (Japanese style). Staff were helpful and kind.
I initially reserved for 3 nights but when I found out that the closest train station was so small ; with no attendant ; train times to main station (Karatsu) were too few n far between- I was very thankful that they allowed me to change to their other branch in Karatsu. But if you have time or car this is a excellent hotel with beautiful views of castle n river; an onsen; and delicious breakfast buffet (for $8.00). Hard to find this quality hotel at such reasonable price. I booked 3 nights thinking it would be good place to visit the 3 major pottery towns. If you want to see Arita, Imari and Karatsu pottery - best to stay in the actual town of Karatsu.
The only major downside was not knowing about inserting the key for electricity in the room. Although they had basic information on a slip of paper in English, it neglected to mention that. I had to call down because I wasn't expecting it and couldn't figure out what was up with the room. After the front desk staff showed me, I used google translate on the text next to where you insert the key and it didn't mention anything about electricity or power either.
None of the staff I interacted with seemed to speak English well, but this wasn't a problem.
Overall, it was what I wanted out of a hotel stay. :)
A good hotel with very clean and comfortable, if somewhat cosy, rooms. Not sure if it was because of the season, but there was no restaurant for dinner, only breakfast which is a mix of western and local food. The staff are very helpful and most speak sufficient English for hotel purposes.
Our rooms is facing the river side which allows us to see the Karatsu Castle and the "Rainbow Forest" in both sides. There is a very comfortable massage chair in the room which improves the facilities quality in the hotel.
However, the mattress is very soft and it makes the bed not very comfortable.
