"This is the best choice for a Hotel if you are not staying at the Maria Cristina. Newly remodeled (July 2016) 5-star Hilton hotel with 6-star service. Modern, clean and comfortable. It has all the amenities you will want. Limitations, the restaurant staff is very nice and the service is great, but the menu is limited. We stayed with a family group and some of the rooms have slight noise from the street. But, you can't beat the value and attention you will receive from arrival to departure."

"Interesting concept for modern accommodation. Everything seems to flow seamlessly. Clean, functional, and generously sized rooms. The free laundry allowed us to catch up on our washing on a 6 week tour of France & Spain. Some reviews seem to focus on the 30 minute walk to the old town. We took the 10 minute bus ride from behind the hotel for 1.9 euro everyday. Just tap on with your credit card. Breakfast looked good but we never tried. Gym was well fitted out and rooms quiet."

"Our stay at the Barcelo Costa Basca was simply perfect. The beds are super confortables, the staff’s cordiality is unmatched and the food was glorious. "Great location if you are looking for an affordable and practical alternative to staying in central San Sebastián. Pensión Beizama is in a quiet area of Astigarraga, with a bus stop about a 3-min walk away. Buses run regularly into Donostia/San Sebastián, passing the main bus station and continuing into the city centre, with a stop by Hotel María Cristina. I travelled alone and felt very safe in the area. The pension is above a small local bar/restaurant, which was very convenient for a quick breakfast and served good tortillas. They also serve meals, although I didn't try them. Within about a 5-min walk there are other local restaurants and places for pintxos, as well as small market and a bakery. I actually enjoyed being in a more residential area and seeing a bit of local life rather than staying right in the tourist centre. My room was clean with a small balcony. It was compact but perfectly functional. The bathroom was also small, but the shower area itself was spacious. This is a very simple, no-frills accommodation, and the price reflects that. There are three flights of stairs and no lift, and there is no AC. This wasn't a problem at all during my stay in the second half of September, when the temperature was very comfortable. Check-in and check-out were both quick and straightforward. Juan is really friendly. Overall, a simple, clean and good-value place to stay, with very convenient public transport."
