"The shower , TV , refrigerator , aircon and loo paper were all excellent in our Classic Double room but the bed was creaky and placed against a side wall - we are in our seventies and didn't appreciate the assault course .
Things we had come to take for granted on our many previous stays at what we now call STG have to be requested from Reception for the Classic room : kettle , cups , extra pillow , room clean , towel change ( the last two never happened )
No concierge now - He always answered every question !
We drank in the hotel bar and dined in both restaurants - all excellent but £19 for breakfast seemed a bit steep .
STG location - almost in Oxford Street - is great ; since the advent of the Elizabeth Line , just 2 tube stops from Paddington . I would recommend this hotel on that basis alone but be sure of what to expect !"
