The bar and eating area above the bar as you enter was very unique. The extra areas made for sitting and eating was very cool. The upstairs bar/balcony was so beautiful! Everything about this hotel amazed us. The room we stayed in was a 2 story room with a balcony looking over the living room area. It was very awesome and had a rustic feel to it. We fell in love with every aspect of this hotel! It made our honeymoon the best.
Had a fabulous overnight stay at the Great John Street Hotel. Great location for Spinningfields. Excellent room. Loved the mezzanine layout, the high ceilings and cast iron bath. Breakfast was good quality and plentiful. All the staff members were lovely, really made our stay a brilliant one! Thank you!
Room was very nice and spacious. Front desk were very helpful. Two functions at the hotel had stopped us having drinks and dinner at the hotel so cannot review that which is a shame because so we went out for drinks and dinner. the room for the residents as it was called was no bigger than my bedroom to be honest. Seemed most the staff were busy with the two functions which is understandable such a shame though was really looking forward to my stay but due to the circumstances was not able to enjoy the full hotel experience. May come back one day as I was impressed with the room and settings.
For the price of the room I'd have expected breakfast to be included. Desk too small to make it useful to work from on a business trip. Very eclececlectic room with mezzanine bathroom! Nice to go in to classic fm playing.
Booked hotel stay for wedding anniversay. Hotel was welcoming and building very intimate. Room was cosy, bed comfortable; bathroom was lovely, being on mezanine floor, with roll top bath, large powerful shower and copious hot water. Also convenient for Deansgate shoppng and restaurants, but far enough away from bustle and noise of city centre. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Great room and location was central. Had an issue with the TV which took three visits to sort, but the main issue is the £50 deposit required on check-in. This wasn't made overly clear on the Hotels.com website, and whilst I appreciate some hotels view it necessary to have such a deposit when mini-bars contain £17 half-bottles of white wine (full bottles of the same stuff are (£8) in Waitrose, it is highly unreasonable to only refund same after ca. 5-7d after checkout. There is no reason why the deposit shouldn't be refunded on the same day.
Was woken up at 4:45am by the staff in the function room above my room dragging tables across the floor. Thought that this would stop but it continued with them adding the banging of chairs. Called Reception and a few minutes later it stopped.,
When you pay a lot of money for a room to stay in you expect to be able to sleep, isn’t that the number one requirement of a hotel room?
Very disappointed..
Told the receptionist and she just said “ I’m sorry we were setting up for a wedding”.
Like setting up for a wedding at 4:45am is critical? and to the detriment of the guests that were already there. Really??
This tucked away boutique hotel is quirky and delightful. The roll top baths and complimentary bath robes added to the experience. Lightning in the bedroom is romantic but not practical for applying makeup. Would definitely recommend as a relaxing place to unwind and enjoy a good nights sleep. I will definitely return to this hotel.
