Stehengebliebenes Gästehaus, bis 2019 von American Express ausgezeichnet für eine außergewöhnliche Küche, dann ist wahrscheinlich der Koch gegangen und seitdem wird nicht mehr investiert. Darüberhinaus hat die ganze Nacht eine Ente genervt, an Schlafen war nicht zu denken.

Enjoyable Mimosa Lodge

Receptipn staff were friendly an the room was as described. We enjoyed the balcony. Dinner was excellent and the night's rest was comfortable and cozy. Breakfast the following morning was a pleasant surprise. Very well presented and very enjoyable - the perfect way to start the day.

It was a freezing weekend and we were looking forward to our time away. After a promising friendly check-in it went downhill from there. Thin duvet with summer sheets, “aircon” warned about 5cm in front of it, water in shower was not a good pressure in the one, and on the other it fluctuated between warm and cold, remaining cold to the point where I could not finish washing my hair in the morning - we checked out after one night. Needless to say there was a no I cancellation policy so we had to pay for another night elsewhere. But it was still worth it.

Eine große Enttäuschung

Seit vielen Jahren war die Mimosa Lodge auf meiner Watch und Wunschliste. Die erste Ernüchterung war das Zimmer No. 10. Ich hatte das Gefühl in einer Gefängsniszelle zu sein. Ein Zimmer ohne Fenster und dies auch noch zur Straße. Da ich lt. Aussage eines Mitarbeiters der wohl einzige Gast war, war ich von diesem Zimmer mehr als enttäuscht. Die nächste Enttäuschung war das Abendessen....... der Koch schien frisch verliebt zu sein, denn mit Salz wurde gar nicht gespart. Die Nachtruhe wurde durch Straßenlärm dann doch unterbrochen, aber das lies nun leider nicht mehr ändern. Das Frühstück war leider auch nichts - für ein so hochgelobtes Restaurant sehr enttäuschend. Ich war froh wieder in mein Auto steigen zu können und weiterfahren zu können. Schade, ich hatte mich auf dieses Haus sehr gefreut....... das war nix

Hotel für kulinarische Liebhaber

Montagu liegt toll gelegen in Mitte einer Berglandschaft. Die Mimosa Lodge ist vor allem für kulinarische Liebhaber eine exzellente Übernachtungsmöglichkeit. Das Nachtessen mit Winbegleitung lässt keine Wünsche übrig. Zum Zimmer: wir hatten das Classic-Zimmer gebucht und hatten auf Grund der Bilder etwas mehr erwartet. Unser Zimmer war unterteilt und der Schlafteil direkt gegenüber der recht hellhörigen Eingangstür. Für eine Nacht war es ganz ok. Typ: würde zukünftig eher die teurere Kategorie wählen. Gesamthaft ein schöner Aufenthalt, da das Nachtrssen einfach überragend war.

DIE Adresse für Gourmets an der Route 62

Seit bald 10 Jahren gehört der regelmässige Besuch der Mimosa Lodge bei unseren Südafrika-Reisen mit dazu :-) An der schönen Route 62 gelegen, bieten sich vor hier aus zu jeder Jahreszeit herrliche Ausflüge, Bike- und Motorrad-Touren, Passfahrten, Weintouren u.v.m. an. Am Abend rundet dann jeweils ein ausgezeichnetes Dinner und ebenso auserlesene Weine aus der hauseigenen Winery den Tag ab :-) Die Bedienung ist sehr herzlich und freundlich und spricht sogar teils "Züridüütsch" !

Schweizer Gastfreundschaft und tolles Essen

Die Mimosa Lodge liegt zentral mitten im Zentrum von Montagu und verfügt über eigene Parkplätze. Die Zimmer verteilen sich auf mehrere Gebäude. Neben dem Hauptgebäude verfügt die Mimosa Lodge noch über ein weiteres Gebäude im mit Zugang vom Garten her, wo auch ein Swimmingpool und BBQ Grill zu finden sind. Empfangschef Bernie und die anderen Mitarbeiter an der Reception haben uns herzlich empfangen und uns wurden zwei grosszügige Gartenzimmer zugteilt, welche individuell und zweckmässig eingerichtet waren. Alle mit TV und Bad/Dusche. Besonders Wert wird in die Liebe zum Detail gelegt. Am Abend haben wir im hoteleigenen Restaurant gegessen und uns für das "Wine und Dine" Paket entschieden. Das köstliche, kreative Essen (zubereitet von Schweizer Köchen), der Robertson-Wein und der aufmerksame Service war eine spezielle Bereicherung und trug zu einem unvergesslichen Aufenthalt in der Mimosa Lodge bei. Das Besitzer Ehepaar Bernhard und Fida Hess und Bernhards Vater Sepp sind tolle Gastgeber und kümmern sich mit viel Engagement und Leidenschaft um ihre Gäste in der Lodge. Schweizer Gastfreundschaft in Montagu. Wir empfehlen die Mimosa Lodge und das Abendessen gerne weiter.

Lovely hotel in a lovely setting

Lovely hotel in a lovely small town. Nice to stroll around and good hiking in the vicinity. Had a very nice room, Garden suite, (were upgraded). Nice staff. Good food but perhaps a bit overpriced. The same glass of (own) wine that cost R 55 at the hotel cost considerably less at a different restaurant in town. All in all we were very happy with our stay and can definitely recommend Mimosa Lodge!
