My experience at HGU was overall a great experience. The room was very nice and clean, we had front facing window view and the size of the room was okay. The lobby area was comfortable and conveniently contained a cafe.

This was a very affordable hotel option for the quality and location. We were able to park on the street outside of the hotel for free on Saturday and Sunday. HGU is close to the Empire State Building, 5th Ave, and lots of shops and restaurants. The HGU staff was extremely nice. We enjoyed the NOA cafe (great food and coffee) and guest lounge (comfy couches with books to socialize). Our room was cute and perfect. The bed was very comfortable, and the temperature settings have a lot of options. We will be coming back and recommending to our family/friends.

Room was small but king bed comfortable. Wished I could have signed into Netflix on flat screen TV. Not a lot of room to hang long coats. Was afraid I may break one of the bottles of alcohol that were on top of mini fridge in closet. Would be nice to have coffee in the room too.

I don’t usually leave reviews but this one deserves it. HGU was more than what we expected! Starting off with the location so many restaurants and shopping, everything is so close. The hotel is a 10/10 super clean and aesthetically pleasing. Love the coffee/breakfast cafe that in the hotel.

This was our second stay at HGU New York (the last time was 4 years ago) and we have been super impressed both times. Lovely clean but compact rooms in a great location, at a reasonable price point for New York. We will be back!

Clean and comfortable room, bathroom was great with a large shower easy check in, good location not too far from Bryant park. Fridge in room which was handy and a walgreens not far up the road.

The rooms are small but the king size bed was super comfortable. The staff provided great service, including the cafe and bar. The location is great to access midtown and multiple subway lines. Great value for money.

Great Little Luxury Boutique Hotel
Great boutique hotel. Had a hiccup at check-in, our assigned room was occupied. We were quickly reassigned to a different room and given breakfast vouchers for our inconvenience. Great room, nicely appointed although needed more places to store clothes. Bathroom was nicely renovated and very clean. Great value for the price we paid.

1st time stay in NYC - good hotel
We stayed for a week at HGU. Although the rooms are a bit tired and can be noisy from the lift we found the beds and service very conformable. The team were great in helping out with options and ideas. I think the storage space for a week is a bit cramped but again we managed. the hotel facilities are ok. Overall it is a decent hotel in a very central location for exploring this wonderful city. I would use it again as the location and as we know what to expect can gauge the cost effectiveness. Nothing fancy but more than adequate. Didn't get to check out the roof top bar (missing a trick there) but also didn't eat in the hotel as there is so much so close.

This is my second time staying at the HGU and I have nothing but amazing things to say about this hotel and their staff. The staff is phenomenal and very kind and helpful. I believe it was Katherine was one of the many staff who helped us throughout our stay and she was very kind. We visited for our anniversary and birthday and staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. As for the room, it was spacious and very clean. The location is just steps from the subway and also walking distance to many amazing restaurants. Will be returning again and recommending to any other visiting New York! Thank you HGU for a great stay and experience!

the photos on the site of the rooms are very misleading, our room looked nothing like the photo. it was the size of a walk in closet- we measured out of curiosity and it was a 78 sq foot room. 2 people cannot even change comfortably in the space. this was super disappointing for spending nearly $600 for a one night stay. the location was definitely amazing and within walking distance to everything we wanted, but the room really put a damper on the experience. it was my boyfriends birthday and we had really wanted to spend it in a nice hotel together and were definitely let down. there was also no room service options, no one cleaned our room during our stay, and robes cost extra. I also have not been refunded my security deposit of $100 that was supposed to be refunded upon checkout. the lobby/restaurant/cafe make this place look very nice, and the staff was friendly and helpful, however I would not stay here again.

Standard rooms are on the small size and look a bit worn out. Missing some basics in-room amenities like kettle, tea, coffee, shower caps.
