You don't need to leave the train station when the weather is bad. You can find limited dining options in the station. Hotel is connected to the station. Hotel is very convenient if you don't want to walk outside the station. I thought the Niigata station would have more to do at the train stations. Disappointed the station didn't have more shopping and restaurants.

One of the best hotel in Niigate
Very good location, convenience for all kind of transportation, either bus or train. Nice and tidy room, really appreciated.

Great time in Niigata! JR Mets hotel in excellent location adjacent to the train station. Great morning buffet breakfast for 12.00 or grab a quick bite at the station. Staff very helpful... was able to send our bags ahead of us to Tokyo. Double room spacious enough for our big bags... beds a little too firm , but it’s ok

Great hotel! Highly recommend!
Very convenient location that I recommend to anyone looking to spend 1-2 days in Niigata: the JR/subway station is close by so it doesn't take a lot of time to get out of the area. The room was neat, spacious and the bed was very comfortable. As for breakfast, it is definitely worth it! I'll certainly go back. Only minus was the humid smell in the hallway but the room smelled fresh.

The hotel is situated right next to the JR station & surounded by a 7eleven, Niigata specialized stores, a sake museum, a very good izakaya restaurant, a cafe & a shopping area just around the corner, extremely convenient. Our room was spacious & clean, they only provide the standard basic amenities, so ladies don't expect any extras like sets of sample facial products & bath salt, like some hotels of the same standard would provide nowadays.

Great Stay
Our stay at Hotel Mets Niigata was extremely enjoyable. The location was convenient to the station and shopping, especially in the cold weather. We would definitely stay here again!

Would stay again if in Niigata
Much larger than a typical Japanese business hotel, typical Japanese cleaniness. Both heating and air conditioning works well. Directly connected to the Niigata station on the 3rd floor. 3rd floor has many shops including 24 hour convenient store and a sake vending machine shop.

I booked a smoking room by an accident and it cannot be refunded since it was purchased by a reward.i called the hotel and they kindly offered me the cancelation since the rooms were booked fully. I asked them to exchange the room to non smoking room if there is any calncelation of the non smoking room. The hotel promised me if they cannot exchange it they will try air purification if the smoking room. Fortunately I was able to get the non smoking room and it was very much clean and equipped. I was very happy to stay there.

Bad location
The location is out of the way north of the station. Everything is happening in the south of the station and it takes a long walk to get from north to south. No eating outlet except a Japanese restaurant for breakfast
