Hotel Akureyri
10/10 Excellent
"Absolutely — here’s a polished version that keeps the warmth and authenticity of your experience: We just spent the weekend at Hotel Akureyri and had an outstanding experience from beginning to end. From the moment we walked in, the hotel felt warm and welcoming. The lobby is cozy, beautifully designed the kind of place where you actually want to spend time. It’s perfect for relaxing with a drink, reading a book, playing a game of pool or simply enjoying the atmosphere. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive throughout our stay. Housekeeping was excellent — everything was always very clean, well maintained and taken care of with noticeable attention to detail. Breakfast was another highlight. A very nice and varied buffet with something for everyone, and we especially appreciated that it is served from 7:00–11:00, making mornings relaxed and easy. What also stands out is the personal involvement of the owner. You can feel that there is real attention being paid to the details, the guests and the staff, and that translates into the overall experience. Hotel Akureyri combines warmth, personality, great service and attention to detail. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Akureyri. We will definitely be back!"

Fosshotel Myvatn
10/10 Excellent
"We love Foss hotels. The friendly staff, happy hours, breakfasts, optional dinners, locations with stunning views, and overall comfort of the rooms were all perfect. So quiet! I also like the values of the island hotels chain, of which Foss hotels is the biggest, are portrayed in our experiences with each stay."
Sel Hotel Mývatn
10/10 Excellent
"Very nice hotel with a nice natural area across the street. The hot tub was very nice too. The midges are thick though, so bring a face net."
Centrum Hotel
8/10 Good
"Biggest knock is that the street the entry is on is pedestrian only and the only places to park are pay lots during the day. But they do have a laundry room."
Hotel Halond
10/10 Excellent
"So, this is a somewhat unusual hotel in that there were effectively no visible staff during my entire stay. Access to the building and to my room was via a pin code sent me (it came through Expedia’s message system and since the email notifications connected to it get mostly filtered into spam by gmail, I had a moment of panic while driving to Akureyri that I would arrive in the wee hours of the morning and not be able to access a room I paid for, but fortunately, that was not an issue. I didn’t get the breakfast either of the two mornings that I was there, so I can’t comment on that. The room was the nicest of all the rooms I stayed in while in Iceland and the in-room television supports Airplay so I was able to do things like watch streaming videos or play music from my phone to it which was nice. The one lack I would point at would be that the rooms have fridges but not microwaves, so don’t expect to make yourself a hot meal in your room, but otherwise, it was a great place to stay and should I ever return to Akureyri, I will definitely stay here again."
