"We spent 3 nights at the Wyndham Garden Inn in Galena, Illinois. The staff is wonderful, our room was good. Since our last visit they have done some remodeling. What I don't understand is why they put the drawers to hold your clothes at the very bottom of the area under the TV. There are 2 small drawers, above that is the coffee maker & microwave. They are so low, that you cannot read anything on these 2 appliances, unless you crawl on the ground, with a flashlight in hand! The toilet in the bathroom obviously belongs in a preschool, it is so low to the ground! Maybe the designer of the redo was only 4 feet tall. And then the morning we were leaving, the toilet seat broke! There was also a standing lamp in the corner that had no shade on it, so it was useless. We have stayed at this hotel for many years, back when it was a Ramada & have always loved going there. I would go back again, but maybe I will ask for a handicap room & things will be better."

"The bathroom was small, fan in bathroom quite loud and toilet handle needed to be held down to flush. The beds were super comfortable and it was a quiet environment at night for sleeping. The food at the restaurant was really good and the view from the outdoor deck spectacular!!! Overall, I would give a 4+ to the October stay at Chestnut Mountain Resort!!"

"Bring your own s’more supplies, roasting forks and a broom. The cabin was intimate and overall comfortable. Needed some extra cleaning as there was a large pile of leaves on the entrance into the cabin, so they kept getting tracked in regardless of the no shoes policy. They ran of out s’more supplies and didn’t communicate that nor offer a replacement so just bring your own to be on the safe side. There was literally only 2 small towels and washcloths as well so either request more immediately or bring your own,"

"The sofa bed in my room had yellow stains on both sides. The breakfast was descent, sausages, eggs, cereal, waffles, oatmeal, drinks, yogurt. Kids enjoyed the pool."
