“Beautiful hotel. We were greeted by a glass of prosecco whilst we checked in. We had a standard room which was more than adequate in size and it has the softest bed and linen I think I have ever stayed in, the room had a balcony looking out over part of the golf course. We played golf and used the spa after which is intimate in size but well worth using. We ate in both restaurants and had breakfast on the terrace both mornings. “Great location for me, within walking distance of all the major sites, plenty of dining options nearby, the building itself was a treat! Staff was helpful. I was having a minor laundry emergency (a previous booking didn't have laundry services as advertised) and they were kind enough to accommodate me quickly and efficiently. The only down sides were seasonal. Our stay coincided with high temperatures and our room was stuffy, which is completely understandable, but the windows were not screened....
“Well its owned and on the cathedral property. Wow I did not know that. It was a unique experience and close to the main streets. It was a great place to sleep next to the cathedral. It was cool to go to breakfast and see a priest or other parishioner getting ready to start a conference or some other worthy activity, not that that was the exclusive attendance of the hotel.”

“We received the warmest of welcomes from Jim, the proprietor. He was so lovely, funny and kind. Although the Shenandoah is a period house, it is right up to date, the decor and furniture looked new. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent, there was probably something to suit everyone. I’m a bit of a Nespresso addict and usually take a machine with me when I travel, I didn’t this trip but was delighted when I found a Nespresso machine in the breakfast room.
