Baffled by the glowing reviews. We couldn't wait to leave. Photos show a sparkling clean place; our expensive "deluxe" room was shabby. Linens clean, but I've never slept on a worse mattress -- miserable, rock hard, ancient; I slept on the floor the last night. Bathroom: dingy and mildewed, and the walls of the whole place were covered in marks. Dust on high surfaces. Bathroom window was disgusting, and no screen. A super strong citronella candle was burning, which made me nauseous. The shampoo and soap dispensers in the shower were gross. Shower fluctuates wildly from scalding hot to freezing. Dirty kettle. Window looked out on the hallway. We could hear every sound outside the room, including the kitchen and laundry (all night), screaming baby, drunk people yelling. One of the outlets was broken. The safe and refrigerator didn't work, and when I asked for a discount because of that, they refused. They switched the fridge and it still didn't get cool (not even cold enough to safely put leftovers in or cool a beer), and they told us this is normal. My friend asked for the advertised beach towels, the guy told her to use the room towels, and after arguing, was super rude about finally giving her one shabby towel. Veggie sandwich I ordered at the bar came on stale bread. Staff other than one manager very rude. Of hundreds of hostels and hotels, and this was one of the worst experiences. I don't think I've ever implied reviews were fake before, but I can't help but wonder.

The dorm room is huge with air conditioning. This is the plus. It has no pool, no water kettle, coffee upstairs is expensive and small. Next door is cheaper coffee, cheaper food and no loud music.

Superbe. L’acceuil est génial. Les gens qui y travaillent sont gentils. Accueillants et serviable. On m’a tout de suite mise à l’aise!! Ça n’a pas de prix! La vue sur rooftop est fantastique.

Mediocre at best

I really wanted to like this place, but it has a long way to go. It tries to be like a boutique hotel, but it truly is a hostel. For starters the standard rooms don't have a toilet in the room, so you might be better off to save the money and book a dorm room. The staff is friendly enough, but their English is very limited a many times when I asked a question or needed assistance with something I just received a "no", there was no effort made or "going the extra mile" to help fix anything. There is supposedly maid service every day, but there was dust over everything, cobwebbs in the corners, and even a couple of cockroaches wandering in. Overall it wasn't a terrible visit, but I think there are much better and equally affordable places elsewhere in the city.

Clean and good hostel

Very clean and good hostel, hard but comfortable beds. Perfect with the storage lockers under the beds in the dorm! Only negative thing I can think of was that the address shown on hotels.com s map was not where the hotel was at all, the location was further south and closer to the beach so it was still good.

godt hostel

Det var nyt og derfor i god stand. dog lugter der lidt indeklukket. Jeg syntes der var meget rent og pænt, men vi var der også i lavsæson. Vil nok ikke anbefale det til familier med små børn, da der var meget larm om aftenen (fra skybar). Tror at i højsæson vil der være endu mere larm. wifi var virkelig dårligt i forhold til andre steder på øen. maden i restauranten var virkelig god og billig. generelt syntes jeg det er udemærket til prisen, personalet er meget venligt. vi have et værelse med eget bad og toilet som var i super stand.

Hostel Was Nice but Staff...

I've travelled throughout Vietnam quite a bit and have always had overly nice receptionists at any place I stay. However, at Q Hao I interacted with 4 different staff members and 3 of them I found rather rude and unfriendly. When I first checked in, the woman working seemed annoyed to have to look up from her phone to check me in. She also gave me zero information about the hostel/area unlike most places do so I had to keep coming back to ask her questions about wifi, where to eat, things to do, etc which seemed to annoy her further. I had an early flight the day I checked out and confirmed the night before that someone would be working at 6am. Well no one showed up until 6:20am. He could see my urgency and even when I told him I needed to leave he moved slowly and seemed bothered by me. I understand we were only 15 mins from the airport but it was completely rude and made me anxious. My stay otherwise was very nice (although the wifi was very slow) but I'd suggest the staff work on interpersonal skills and timeliness.
