I had to cancel my reservation, which I was able to do with the Dean hotel. They were extremely accommodating. However, when I tried to reach Expedia to do the same, I was put into an endless loop of customer service and was not able to make any change to my reservation. It was extremely frustrating, and I will not use Expedia again. Pro tip: go directly to the hotel and avoid the middleman.

I rarely submit reviews. This "hotel" is slightly better than a hostel. Don't be fooled by the photos. The entrance has big steps and a heavy door that I had to navigate with a stroller and luggage. Luckily the guy checking in was kind enough to open the door for me as the hotel staff looked on. The elevator is a death trap and definitely illegal. The coffee shop wasn't open 2 out of 3 mornings (our stay was Wed-Sat). When I confronted the staff about it she became defensive and unprofessional. The restaurant is closed and the only drinks/snacks they offer are chips and boxed water). There is an ice machine but no ice buckets. The bathroom is fully tiled with a high gloss finish so the floors get dangerously slippery. Between the karaoke bar and thin walls it was extremely loud (coming from someone that lives on a commercial street in Brooklyn). Good location.

The room smelled foul. I am not sure if it is the cleaning supplies used or air freshener , but it's really awful. I have the windows open and can barely stand it. In addition the room is so small that the door couldn't open all the way because it hit the furniture. My son's dorm room is larger. I love small Indy hotels and stay in them wherever I travel over the large chains but I would have been much more comfortable at the Marriott!

The Dean is well rated by many travel mags but I wonder if any of them have started in the hotel. The front desk staff were efficient but far from friendly, almost like they forgot that they work at the front desk of a hotel. Not a smile or warm welcome from anyone. It was very odd actually. The room, I’m sure photographs very well but some things aren’t super functional. Location is great, in between Federal hill and the train station. And located steps from the LGBT bars.

The bar was the only good part. The room was beautiful - but not functional. Extremely uncomfortable furniture. The sheets were dirty and when the girl came to change them, not only did they not have the right size, she didn’t know how to make a bed. They ended up switching our room, this one didn’t have enough towels and no washcloths. The "bed" was a poorly made futon, not an actual mattress. The shower is so small I'm five feet tall and couldn't bend over to wash my legs. And it was noisy. All. Night. Long. We stayed two nights, didn't sleep for any of it. Do not recommend.

You made us aware of the stained sheets which I agree is not ok and my FD agent rushed up to help remake the bed. The whole time you just screamed at her to the point she didnt feel safe and called me very upset. At that point, I did tell her to just move you to a different room. The suite we moved you does have a mattress. I also wished you brought the noise to our attention as we could of had security look into this and end it. I am sorry you didnt enjoy your stay and do hope you find a hotel that is a better fit for you during your next visit.

Great find! Quirky boutique hotel that has everything you need. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Only thing lacking was a mini fridge in the room. We would stay again!

I enjoyed my stay. The staff were very kind and the room was clean. I had some minor issues with noise from people in the rooms nearby returning to their rooms late and drunk, but this was not the hotel’s fault.

Great location in the heart of downtown. Parking is located directly next to the hotel which is very convenient. The staff was beyond helpful and friendly with recommendations etc.. Couldn't ask for a better spot. One word of advice is the rooms are somewhat small, but they offer everything you could need.

The staff were fantastic and I really appreciated their initiative to consolidate my two reservations so that I didn't have to change rooms. The elevator was quaint, the rooms were spacious, and the noise level was minimal. I loved the note that was specifically left for me, and I appreciated the chance to get a good night's sleep every night I was there. The location was great in terms of easy access to the city bus as well as lots of great cafes and restaurants. I was grateful for the staff member who came up immediately to unclog my toilet late at night. I'd definitely stay again on a future visit!

Mid February stay in a king suite. Room was lovely, even if there was a strange smell of disinfectant everywhere. A tiny portable heater was going full blast but the room and the corridors were absolutely freezing. I can only imagine there was a problem with the central heating system. The thermostat read 51 but didn’t seem to work. It certainly felt like 51!

Nice design but not great functionally.
Great staff, good coffee and great bar. Small, spartan rooms with no drawers or closet. Desk tiny, no bedside tables to speak of, an the bathroom had nowhere to leave wash bag etc. Fine for overnight but wouldn't recommend for a longer stay.

seemed like a very outdated boutique hotel. Elevator was a "lift" from back in the day. Room was to basic, no mini fridge to store anything. Room had no dresser to store belongings, mattress was EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE, very odd bed set up... Would never recommend this place to anyone. Check in and check out process was good, very friendly staff
