“Beautiful and interesting place to stay! Wonderful history to it. The place was very clean and the staff were excellent - helpful and friendly (one staff member remembered our room number on only our second morning for breakfast!). The room we stayed in was very basic but clean. Highlights were the excellent breakfast and cool architecture of the building.”

“We had a comfortable room with a patio overlooking the Douro River. Staff very friendly. The only negative from our point of view was the window from the shower into the room. The botton 2/3 rds are translucent and upper 1/3 clear. If a light is turned on in bathroom bedroom is lit up as well . Also the obvious privacy issues. Other than the the room , hotel , staff, bar and restaurant are great.”

“The staff at the front desk didn’t tell us we had to use two elevators to get to our room. Frustrating figuring out on your own. Unless you want to hang by the pool, there is absolutely nothing to do at this hotel. There is no nearby town to walk around , only the hotel surrounded by beautiful wine country. Also it’s a harrowing mountainous drive to get to this hotel. The roads are barely wide enough for a small SUV.”
