When we arrived at Hotel Cando We were completely exhausted from three flight cancellations during the holidays. We met Jesse, the manager, at the time who was very professional, and figured out a way to deal with someone who could not speak Spanish. Our rooms were exceptionally clean, Netflix was available. The water was hot and the beautiful patio was very inviting! Across the street is the museum of Jade and of course many other historical museums and neighborhoods to walk in and visit. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Hotel Cando!

Great Value!

I have stayed here over the years and always have enjoyed the location and value. The service has always been excellent, with friendly staff. Location is great if you like staying in central San Jose. You have supermarkets within a minute. This is a little Gem that is great on the pocket book and clean. Hot water is solid.

En efecto, se trata de un oasis de cierta tranquilidad en el bullicio del centro de San José. Se trata de un grupo de apartamentos con cocina abiertos a un patio central con vegetación, tal como puede verse en las imágenes. Esta característica hace que los apartamentos tengan poca privacidad (tienes que escoger; o luz natural o privacidad), en especial los de la planta baja ya que los clientes, personal, etc. tienen que atravesar el patio para acceder a las habitaciones. Los apartamentos de la planta baja, son algo más caros y tienen aire acondicionado. Los de la planta superior son algo más económicos, pero no tienen aire acondicionado; según la época de visita, no es necesario (yo estuve a mediados de julio y no lo encontré a faltar). La cocina es pequeña, pero suficiente para cortas estancias. Hay pocos platos, cubiertos, etc. y no en demasiado buen estado. Habría que renovar algunas piezas. A la llegada tuve que fregarlo todo, estaba bastante sucio. Justo al lado del hotel hay dos grandes supermercados, muy convenientes. También hay restaurantes, pero al tener cocina (y por el tema del COVID) no los visité. La cama es cómoda y el baño está bien. Por la televisión sólo pueden verse dos canales privados, tipo netflix. No puede verse ningún canal nacional, lo cual para mí es un inconveniente. Los encargados son extremadamente amables, aunque en ocasiones son difíciles de encontrar. Durante toda la noche hay alguien en recepción.

La limpieza es buena, mucha ventilación. Por el precio, es la mejor estadía Que he tenido hasta el momento, solo hay opción de Netflix y YouTube. El personal es extremadamente amable, como en ninguna otra parte, te hacen sentir muy bien y la ubicación muy céntrico en la capital

No sign outside; difficult to find. 'Full' breakfast option is a scam; you only get a voicher for $4 discount. Poor construction; you can hear everything in adjacent rooms. No hot water in sink. No screens on doors; great climate outside ... but can't enjoy without letting in many mosquitos. Very few rooms have A/C; travelers should read the fine print on every room before choosing. The 'blackout' curtain is just a pull down shade that doesn't cover the window. Overall, beautiful courtyard ... but everything else about this property is disappointing. Would never stay here again

The young lady working there was super helpful. Very informative. She gave us her cellphone number and did all translation for us when we purchased the event ticket. Even let us use her ID to buy event tickets. The room was large and modern but bathroom needs attention. Shower water splashes every where coz it does not have a proper curtain or door. Overall the room not cleaned. They only change out bed linens. Very noisy coz the guests played loud music passed midnight
