"So despite its name, this is not a hotel. It is definitely a motel and that is how it should be filtered on Expedia. Parking was annoying- Expedia description states that there is a parking garage with which the motel has a relationship and this was not available on our visit so we had to find parking in a busy area. Also, a freight train line runs behind this property which is quite loud. There is also a bar nearby that is quite loud at night. On the plus side, the staff was friendly. Ultimately, this is probably a place better suited to a lone traveler interested in the local scene. I would not recommend it for families."
Residence Inn by Marriott Charlottesville Downtown
8/10 Good
"Rooms were clean, spacious. Breakfast offerings were fresh and included healthy options. Staff friendly and parking was safe/easily accessible. Location is convenient and walkable to many surrounding areas of interest/restaurants/shops"
"Excellent front desk staff. First room we were given was gross. Hairs and stains all over the mattress pad, did not look like it had been washed in months. Second room was better, but there was what appeared to be blood on the duvet. Will not stay here again. "
"Very nice location; close to 64, the Martha Jefferson Hospital, and not too far from Downtown Charlottesville.
There's a nice walking path with a couple of ponds right by; great for a stroll.
They have a small pool and a decent sized hot-tub.
I ate and drank at the bar the first night; the Bartender was very kind and the food was good.
The bed was really comfortable, so sleeping was easy. The blackout curtains worked really nicely.
Will definitely stay there again next time I need to be close to Pantops."
