The hostel is cozy, located close to the lake, and within a short drive or a hike from Scafell. The food at the restaurant is fantastic. There is also a kitchen which can be used to cook your own food. The staff are all very friendly.

What an amazing hostel! Perfect location and lovely building, The panelled lounge full of lovely leather sofas, books and a roaring fire was particularly fine. Staff were friendly and accommodating, the beer was good and the full english veggie breakfast the ideal precursor to some stiff walking.

Incredible place to stay

We stayed here to climb Scafell Pike the next day. The staff were incredible friendly and helpful with great advice on the routes to take. The breakfast was delicious and exactly what we needed before the hike up the mountain. The location is absolutely stunning as well. Couldn't recommend more.

Fantastic setting, and a building full of character. Staff were very helpful, breakfast was basic but substantial. I'm quite tall and so struggle with YHA beds generally , but had a decent night's sleep. The manager's two collies in the hostel were gorgeous.

Great view outside the hostel, it’s right at the lake and it is a breathtaking view. Staff that helped us out were very friendly. Excellent stay, excellent price and very good location from scaffel pike.

Incredible hostel

Stayed for one night and the hostel was incredible. The staff are incredibly friendly and the local area is lovely. Highly recommended for walkers/hikers or a stop off in the Lakes. The breakfast was brilliant and at a reasonable price. The rooms were also fantastic - way above your average hostel.
