The room was clean, spacious and neat. We were a family of 4 travelling. So we had a connecting room, which was convenient especially with 2 bathrooms. The staff was nice. However, we turned up to breakfast at 9:20am, being informed we had to buy tickets from reception. By the time we got the tickets and went back up at 9:31am, the breakfast place was closed. Then, we had to go back down to get a refund. I feel both the restaurant staff and reception staff should warn us that it was too late for breakfast and there was NO POINT of buying breakfast tickets for 4 people at 9:20am when the place was closing in 5 mins! otherwise, the location was great.

Overall, the property was perfect. I would consider Sotetsu Fresa Inn Sendai a more upscale Japanese business hotel. Room was clean and modern with a good selection of amenities. It's just a short walk from Sendai Station and conveniently located near many restaurants and shops. Unfortunately, breakfast is not complimentary but there are many breakfast options in the surrounding area. I found a cheap onigiri shop just around the corner from the hotel for just 150 yen each and the portions were generous, better than the ones at the convenience stores. There is also Asaichi Market, which I recommend taking a stroll through.

The check-in process was poor. There were several staff at the reception counter but someone immediately forced me toward to the self checkin machines. Upon entering my last last, the system could not locate my name. Someone the came over with a printed receipt with a QR code. This worked. The whole experience was impersonal and I felt the staff was trying to train me like a dog to using the self check in.
