"This is an onsen ryokan. A natural hot spring Japanese style inn. It is quiet and relaxing. If there is not an option for dinner when you book, contact the hotel directly (not Expedia). It is a must to participate in eating the multi course meal. Not only is it delicious, there is not much near by. Each night the menu changes, but it is a set menu. You will not be disappointed. Also, schedule your pick up at the train station.

"Fantastic hotel with great amenities. We had a sea view room and I think almost all rooms have that. We enjoyed the Onsen that had everything one needs including small sauna. The complementary soft drinks in the cosy lobby was a nice gesture and appreciated.
Staff were very helpful and accommodating our requests and questions. Our 11year old daughter found plenty entertainment, we all loved the skin care fish for example. Keen to go back. Also Shimoda is beautiful, lots to do, i.e. beautiful...
