"The location was great. The room was big and clean. The staff was helpful. The building was really nice.
The only drawback was thst I could hear water running in other rooms. "
"This hotel is a piece of history. Only 8 minutes up the road to the Quinta da Regaleira. The hotel is lovely, the views are great. The breakfast was small but sufficient. The restaurant is good. The staff is very helpful and the massage was great. I would recommend calling and booking a massage in advance so you can get your preferred time. everything is aboout a 12-17 minute walk except the mountain top Pena Palace for example - uber or tuktuk to that. Parking is very limited if you are coming with a rental, call in advance for information regarding the paid parking garage. Once you pass the hotel it takes 15-18 minutes to go around and get back with all the one way roads. The road to the hotel is closed to general traffic so be prepared to tell the traffic controller in portuguese that you have a reservation at the hotel. "
Valverde Sintra Palácio de Seteais - The Leading Hotels of the World
10/10 Excellent
"This was a luxurious hotel, the surroundings had lovely gardens with fruit trees, maze styled shrubs and a terrace that overlooks Sintra. Location is about a 15minute walk to the historic area, and a 40 minute walk from the train station. The staff is very attentive and available to help with any needs. The rooms are spacious, shutters on the windows, well appointed washroom which was separate from the sleeping area."
"Unfortunately Night 1 - A/C was found not to work in our suite, so we changed rooms to a nice upgraded roomwith a beautiful mezzanine bedroom located on the opposite wing of property.
Unfortunatey we found that the A/C in this room also did not work, and being that it was out of the daily afternoon sun it didn't get quite as hot. We chose not to move and reported it on check out.
The staff was wonderful, we had to leave at 3:00am to catch a flight, and the wonderful young man was nice enough to turn on the coffee machine just so I could take a coffee with me.
The only other complaint I have was the number of children (mostly toddlers) that were running around. There wasn't a moment you could enjoy the pool or go for a meal without hearing screaming kids or kids running around.
Over all, I would absolutely go back, I would just want to be assured of working A/C as well as pick a better time (if there is one?) where there are less children (My baby days are well beind me.)"
"The room was large but it needs to be renovated, it is showing its age. It was nice to have a balcony but the chairs, table and floors were dirty. The breakfast was nice it had a good selection. We took advantage of the Happy Hour and prices and selection were good. The Lobby is lovely. The staff at the front desk and bar were very nice and accommodating.
The location is great right in the historical center. The major issue was getting to the hotel. Uber drivers are not sure where to drop you off and cannot enter the historic center because of the hydraulic bollard in the middle of the street. We had to walk about 1 mile uphill with our luggage, not an easy task and if you have any kind of disability it is an impossible task. Also due that impasse they cannot pick you up in front of the hotel either.
All in all, we were pleased with our stay but due to these issues we would never stay there again.
