"We had a lovely couple of nights at the Bear Hotel. Room was well appointed and spotlessly clean. Only very slight negative on room, was that on our first night, we could only get luke-warm water from the shower. Ate in the restaurant and meal was good quality overall. Service in restaurant was a little slow and lacking some attention to detail but pleasant all the same. Will happily return to stay here again, and plan to do so."

"The property itself is a bit outdated although the room in which I stayed seemed newly refurbished and I liked it a lot! Even though it was a budget accommodation, it did include ammenities such as coffee, shampoo, shower gel, etc. The wifi was excellent. The neighborhood was conveniently located for my purposes (25-30 minute walk to Cardiff Bay and to downtown Cardiff). The neighborhood was on the residential side so not very lively. "This is a modest, small place. Not really a hotel at all - more a case of Pub with Rooms. We were shocked when we asked, "What time do you serve breakfasts?" A reasonable question? "We don't do breakfast!" was the reply. The (friendly) manager waved her hand vaguely out of the window and told us of a cafe, supposedly a short walk away. We managed to get milk and next morning, made a cuppa and set of to find the breakfast cafe. After a fifteen minute hike we found ourselves well into Penarth...
