Mercure Tirana

"Mercure Hotel is a clean, well-maintained property. It's located near a major intersection on the western outskirts of Tirana. There are two things I liked about the hotel. First, it is clean and new for the price range. Not fancy, but I did not experience any inconvenience during my stay. Second, the breakfast buffet was really good, much better than most four-star hotels in Western Europe. In addition to eggs and sausages, they had vegetable dishes, mushrooms, various kinds of cheese (not just European cheese but also more Middle Eastern cheese), five or six different kind of jams, different kinds of yogurt, fresh fruit, bread, and more. There is also an absolutely pleasant female worker there. She greets every guest and asks how we are doing in a super cheerful manner but not in an annoying way. She was a delight to see every morning. The hotel should give her a big raise! The most serious drawback I had was the location of the hotel. Because it's outside the main area of the city, there are so few restaurants to go out for dinner. I ended up eating dinner at the hotel, which was very disappointing unlike the excellent breakfast. I think they microwave everything in the kitchen, which is really problematic for dinner that pretends to be a bit fancy. So if you stay here, make sure to eat in town before coming back to the hotel."

"It was out the way and peaceful and less busy lifestyle. Downfall was no one would bring outside food to be delivered to the hotel. Not many restaurants around. Such a steep hill going down to the main road and coming up. Breakfast was just the basic where you had a sheet to order from and couldn't order for others or take food away to the rooms for later! Bedrooms were from low to high grade. Some things dont work and it wouldn't get fixed until a day or two later. English wasnt the top language so Google translate had to be used. They should keep up to date with maintenance work in the rooms and not just outside the hotel. Two lovely swimming pools and plenty of lounge chairs. If you have the view of balcony looking towards the pool and restaurant.. be warned they can have weddings/parties than can last until 3am!! Overall lovely hotel kept very clean hopefully if ever visit would try get in the city so easy to travel and navigate. This hotel is for those that want to keep away from city life and want peace and quiet. Important for tea lovers...take your own tea bags!! They like their coffees"
