It's a great place to stay! I've been there several times in different seasons. Off-season or leaf peeper season the free breakfast is a lot less than the free breakfast during ski season. During ski season AKA winter, eggs, waffles, pancakes etc however during other seasons they only offer cold cereal, milk bagels toast and juice and coffee of course. Other than that it's a fantastic place and they're dog friendly

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The room was clean but slightly outdated, The resort as a hole could use some Maint and TLC with missing door threshold tile in the hot tub area and some creaking and what looks like water damage in areas. The stairway carpets could use a replacement as they have seen better days. The Continental Breakfast was very basic no hot foods ( Cereal and bagels and toast. The staff was great and helpful. Would of been nice if the onsite bar was open.
Only there for one night:
Plusses: excellent staff, comfortable bed and nice amenities.
Nonos: full house caused a parking nightmare. Even with a handicapped placard we were accommodated to allow parking in front of the loading dock.
Also, no elevator and steep stairs to the 2nd floor.
I’d stay there again and I’m a frequent traveler.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were big and clean and nice. The breakfast was great! and the spa area was very relaxing...just what we needed after a day on the slopes!
We have stayed at this hotel three times in July because it is convenient to the American Dance Academy camp nearby. The hotel desperately needs to be freshened up. I have no complaints about the comfortable beds and the nice bathrooms, but the interior of the hotel is dingy, and the carpet throughout seems gross. I wouldn't use the sauna (spelled Suana on a large direction sign on the wall- why haven't they fixed this??) or hot tub because of this pervasive feeling of dinginess. That being said, the staff is very nice, the breakfast that's included is fine, and the price, though a bit high for the quality of the place, is the lowest in the area. And the location is excellent.
We loved our stay at the Black Bear! The check-in went smoothly with desk staff, Noah. She was very helpful and went over everything about our stay. The room was very clean. The hot tub was very nice and clean and a welcome after a day on the slopes. The shuttle to the mountain was great and ran frequently. The breakfast was always hot and had many options. We would definitely stay there again!
